Pawlak?

Western Michigan is a big time program for sure.I am sure they could recruit the likes of who knows who. It's a down grade from Montana which is well at this point not saying a lot.
Like I told 406, OG, while I have been to Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids, I am far from an expert on Western Michigan University and their football program. What I do know Is we both recruit a lot of 3 star athletes --we are recruiting comparable student-athletes, though in different regions of the country. We are not competing for 4 or 5 star kids with Oregon or Washington and WMU isn't competing for those kids with their home-state flagship Michigan Wolverines.

Coach Pawlak probably did receive a nice pay raise, so good for him !!!

Hopefully our next O line coach is from The Pacific NW or even better yet, a former GRIZ O lineman, we have him in place within the next 7-10 days, and we can pay him and the rest of our hard-working, dedicated coaching staff a little better.

If that is the case you should not be using NAIA as an example. It's like saying coaches leave for the pros or an FBS team because of money . That should have nothing to do with the FCS. If you are going to compare it according to you it should strictly be FCS to FCS. I just can't understand you sometimes. You want your cake and eat it too.

Or in reality meeting/talking with recruits he might want at his new school so why try to get them to UM? Seems would be a serious conflict of interest to be still talking to them “representing “ UM.

I would guess the most likely answer is that it just hasn't been announced that he is leaving, so the kids are still tagging him.

Might be jumping the gun on this one and no idea if it means anything but noticed he’s following a bunch of coaches at Western Michigan and a bunch of their OL, again could be nothing but kind of alarming in a way especially all the coaches.
We still sure he is leaving? I have no idea it’s odd to me nothing public given spring ball has started at UM and WM.

WMU has a solid program. Their enrollment is around 12K. It was as high as 22-25k. They added a Med school a few years back. (Where's) Waldo stadium holds around 30k and they average about 16K at home.

Being in the MAC means they play a lot of Wed and Thur, night games for the TV revenue. Those are the games where there are 3,000 people in the stands and the ESPN cameras focus on the band in order to make it look like there is actually people at the game.

(I don't like that the Griz are playing on Fri. That is traditionally a HS FB night but that's another story.... It could hurt support from Local HS coaches....we'll see)

When PJ Fleck was at WMU (remember Row the Boat?....he's now at Minn), he said we would confine his recruiting to within 100 miles of Kalamazoo so that the players families would be better able to see their kids’ games. That was very reasonable because WMU is within 100 miles of Chicago, Grand Rapids MI, Indianapolis, Gary and Milwaukee (as the seagull flies). He had a 12-1 season his last year at WMU. He made a similar commitment when he got to Minnesota. At that time Minnesota was recruiting Florida, Texas and all the usual Southern states. They were ignoring the Minneapolis / St Paul area, and as a result SD and ND were feasting on Big Ten caliber talent while the Gophers searched for unicorns from the south. Flecks impact on the Dakota schools is being felt now after his 4th year. The MAC brings in a lot of TV revenue from their midweek games that no one attends.

They play a lot of high income out of conference games against Big Ten and ACC teams. They have good NIL money and their coaches are well compensated. For a player I wouldn’t want to play on Wed or Thursday in front of a Ghost crowd.

This will be a financial step up for Pawlak and possibly a step up for his career like Choate going to Texas and then Nevada. Pawlak move is understandable
