Not sure where you're getting your info from, but on page 1 of the '25 recruits, the list has 4 Montana kids. Plus the Whitefish kid transferring in from a D2 school in Minnesota brings the total to 5. Far short of the usual haul, but still more than only 2.That could very well be the case. However, both UM and MSU have excelled with Montana kids, who tend to stay rather than transfer. Additionally, MSU has signed 10 Montana kids for the 2025 season vs UM only signing 2.
I'm also only seeing 6 kids that we offered that went to MSU, and one of them is the coach's son.Not sure where you're getting your info from, but on page 1 of the '25 recruits, the list has 4 Montana kids. And a couple more are 'Scat legacy kids...the sky is NOT falling...I'm also only seeing 6 kids that we offered that went to MSU, and one of them is the coach's son.
I would love someone to put into layman's terms what "opting in" or "out" would mean for the university?I'm still a bit confused on how the 105 roster limit is going to play out. I saw another poster on here say that UM is now not going to opt in to that deal. Regardless I agree we should have a little bit of wiggle room to get a few more pick ups in the spring/summer portal
lol. wow. I'm pretty sure the Griz offered all those kids and didn't view them as "NAIA raw projects".That may well be the case moving forward. But judging by our title game team 2 years ago, and especially MSU's title game team this year -- recruiting Montana kids still IS accumulating talent. Wasn't Montana kid Junior Bergen UM's best player this year and an all-timer?
The Griz just haven't been able to land the best ones for a bit here, for whatever reason. And obviously the portal players didn't hit last year, exacerbating the issue. But hopefully it is just cyclical and we can start landing some of these Montana kids that Boston College, Nebraska, Boise State, Kentucky, Boise State (and whichever nationally elite program Matt Ludwig picks) haven't seemed to think are NAIA raw project types the last couple years.

I have seen that MSU will opt-in and NDSU will opt-out.
We're opting in too. Haslam said so earlier this month. I'm interested to see if schools at the FCS level that opt in have some kind of advantage over schools that don't opt in. Or if it will really matter. Will the board of regents and/or the state AG office let one of the Montana schools opt in without the other? Especially since it could affect academic awards. Likewise, seems like the conferences being proactive and setting forth how they plan to handle this so schools can make the best decision.

It seems like it will let the school direct more of the NIL money, which would seem to streamline the discussions in recruiting. I would think, anyway. We're opting in too. Early signing period. MSU signed 10 Montana kids. I was mistaken, UM signed 3. I still believe that if a school opts in, it makes sense to maintain a private NIL cooperative. It seems like it will let the school direct more of the NIL money, which would seem to streamline the discussions in recruiting. I would think, anyway.
Revenue sharing would theoretically allow for the idea people keep stating of selling beer in the stadium and directing those profits to NIL. That should be an advantage.
You're tilting at windmills. NOBODY is arguing that we don't get any of those kids. Literally nobody. And we do get kids offered by FBS schools almost every year.
One of the best historic examples is during BH 1.0, when Bobby recruited future all-time GRIZ great and NFL RB Lex Hilliard of Kalispell, who was heavily recruited and offered by WAZZU.
And last year we picked up DT Patrick Hayden from Monmouth from the portal, who had 5 or 6 FBS offers.
While we most definitely are not going to win all of these recruiting battles against FBS schools, we also are most definitely not going to lose them all either !!!
This makes no sense to me. Why would any school opt-out? I don’t get it. What benefits are there for opting-out? If any such benefits, how do those out weigh the benefits of opting-in?I have seen that MSU will opt-in and NDSU will opt-out.
So theoretically, the FCS rich can get richer if they opt into the House settlement...Opting into the House settlement would allow FCS schools to spread their scholarship money out over more players.
Why not opt in? It caps the roster at 105.This makes no sense to me. Why would any school opt-out? I don’t get it. What benefits are there for opting-out? If any such benefits, how do those out weigh the benefits of opting-in?
