And we are not confined to any area of the state: GRIZ DL Sloan McPherson is from Savage, incoming GRIZ LB Bridger Salvevold is from Culbertson, legendary GRIZ coaches and players like Kraig Paulson from Plentywood, UM men's b-ball player and sll-time great Lady GRIZ coach Robin Selvig from Outlook, and his nephew and former GRIZ men's b-ball standout Derek Selvig from Glendive, GRIZ safety and Atlanta Falcon Shann Schillinger from Baker--all of them from Eastern Montana on the North Dakota border, and former GRIZ standout kicker and Miami Dolphin and
Buffalo Bills' kicker Dan Carpenter owns a ranch near Plentywood, and GRIZ great hoopster Shawn Samuelson from Broadus on the South Dakota border--he now lives in Billings.
( A lot of people in Eastern Montana get po'd when Billings is listed as being in Eastern Montana, since unlike Miles City, Sidney, Broadus, Glendive, Baker, Plentywood, Glasgow, Wolf Point and Wibaux, Billings is about 250 miles from the ND border on I-94 and about 230 miles from the South Dakota border on US Highway 212. Many of these ltrue Eastern Montanans were glad when Eastern Montana College in Billings became MSU-Billings as some of them told me. While Billings is close to Eastern Montana, we are located in South-Central Montana along with Livingston, Big Timber, Harlowton, White Sulphur Springs, Columbus, Absarokee, Red Lodge, Laurel, Bridgeroʻ and Roundup, etc. )[
While I am sure there are more Shi##ty Kitties east of The Divide than GRIZ, there is a good chance that many if not most of your local lawyers, pharmacists, and physical therapists at the local hospital in Miles City, Glendive, Baker, Plentywood and Sidney are GRIZ, not to mention some of the bankers, CPA's and teachers plus forest rangers--that's right, there are hundreds of thousands of acres in the Custer-Gallatin National Forest in SE Montana around Ashland and Ekalaka and mountains, from the Chalk Buttes near Ekalaka, the Wolf Mountains south of Colstrip, and the Montana Big Horns that cross from Wyoming north into SE Montana south of Lodge Grass with a few of the Montana Big Horns' peaks higher than 10,000 feet.
