So….who do you dislike?

Can they tie and just win via a coin flip….? Oh, wait… NM.

I wish they could both lose!

I can’t stand the SK’ies!!! Unfortunately, I may be sending tuition checks to BOZO like BH did bc my oldest, fully baked love muffin, doesn’t want to be a shit-ass lawyer, business woman or pharmacist. Something about an electrical engineer… I’ll say this, as a 4.0 student with AP and honors classes, she’s received A LOT more recruiting and info packets from MOO-U than UM. 😕

Anyway, I hope neither team wins and they have to play alternates for the 1st time in history… FTC!!!
Send the Muffin to the real engineering school in MT - Tech. It'll make her Butte tough. Is that still a thing?

I know a few Cat players and their parents. All good people. To reference the movie Fargo it is time to put the Dakota teams in the wood chipper and open up the FCS field.
Right?

An MSU win is good for the Big Sky and UM.

On the other hand, I’m glad there are Griz fans that refuse to cheer for the neighbors. It is the best rivalry in CFB and needs the passion and heat it has too.

I would love to see Tommy close the story book tonight and join Super Dave in MT sports legend.

It's a matter of identity, do you see yourself as a Montanan first who loves the Griz fan or do you identify first as a Griz? For me it is easy, I'll cheer for the team that has 45 kids from Montana vs the team that has none.
Are in state Griz fans more likely to root for the Cats and out of state fans more likely to root for the Bison? I only lived in Montana for 4 years when I went to UM, lived in Colorado the rest of my life so the whole cheering for Montana thing doesn’t do it for me the same as if I had grown up and still live in Montana.

As a Cat fan, I have found NDSU fans to be FAR worse than Griz fans. In real life (away from EG/BN) UM fans are generally good hangs. Bison people are insufferable.

Most of my friends that are Cat fans are great which is a very large number because I grew up on that side of that state.. It is pretty good natured banter. Never had an effect on friendships. I'm in a group chat with a group that are in Frisco now. Have ran into some idiots at games and on here but for the most part it is all fun. Ultimately when I sit in my recliner and watch I have zero impact on outcome. So I think I will go grab a six pack of this to watch the game. I agree with you for the 2nd time today. Like you I went to UM in the '60s for 4 yrs.

For this FCS game I am rooting for the State of Montana not the Bison.

The Griz & Cats have something special. I like the banter between teams and the fans.

It's an interesting question, but would be very hard to delineate between the two groups. A lot of us grew up and lived most of our lives in Montana and then moved away later on. I still haven't been gone as long as I lived there though. So I don't know how you would determine in-state versus out of state fans - in other words, where would you draw the line?

I may live out of state, but I'll always be a Montanan and I'm not cheering for the cats.

I just can't bring myself to cheer for The Shi##y Kitties, despite the fact they have some great Montana kids like Tommy Mellott from Butte, the Grebe's from Melstone, and Marcus Wehr, Paul Brott and Taco Dowler from right here in Billings !!!

Something I think we can all agree is our coaching staff is in their offices today and they will be again tomorrow focusing on putting together and coaching a highly successful 2025 GRIZ team--while I am guessing all or at least most will be watching the FCS championship game tonight, they have to focus on us--Da GRIZ--and not on MSU no matter who wins tonight, The Bison or The Shi##y Kitties !!!

Supporting Montana kids for making poor life choices? No thank you!
Maybe when Missoula adds more STEM programs you'll see kids choose the Griz. If my instate options for Engineerng are Tech and MSU and I can continue to play football, it's a no brainier.

Fair enough. I am also a Montanan who now lives out of state and cheering for MSU is tough because Bozeman is about as Montana as Jackson Hole is Wyoming. When the Griz lose, my wife stays away from me for a day or two. It the Cats lose tonight I'll still sleep great even though I'll be pulling for them.

The internet makes it all feel a lot worse than it is. People you would never interact with in real life are super vocal and are emboldened to be vile because they’re online. It’s hard then not to associate the whole fan base with those people.

Especially when it seems like the majority of that team's bad fans all post on their rival's message board continually.
