Huot to Carroll

Yeah, by people that don't know what they're talking about.

Who didn't get a fair shake here?

Huot couldn't beat out two different guys who oscillated between decent and awful for much of the season.

Vidlak was the starter until he got beat out by a guy who took us to the national championship and a true freshman.

Britt left when he wasn't given the starting job after he got the backup job after being 3rd string and proving he was better than...

Kris Brown got maybe the longest leash of any mediocre QB we've ever seen.

Assuming you aren't just joking here, which of these guys didn't get a fair shake?
He's referring to the QB's not being put in a position to thrive is my guess. We haven't had a OC design an offense that takes into account the strength of any particular QB since Smith. Pease just tries to shoehorn whomever is on the depth chart to whatever comes into his pea size brain. John Elway wouldn't look good in his offense.

What you just said isn’t true.

So were you asleep last year watching the offense ran by Clif?

BS. Compare Fife's stats to Ah Yat's, no comparison.
Okay, their stats after the PSU game, when Fife was given the starting job (and then lost it because he was terrible):

QBCompAttComp%YardsYPCompYPATDInt/FumbPoints off turnoversRush ydsYPC
Fife295651%2147.43.802-10523.4
Ah Yat203360%24912.57.522-7252.8

Sure seems to me like one of these guys was better over the final 3 games (against the best defense we played, too) lol

Saw the same O as this year. Cliff's strength was his legs and his 6' 5" 230 lb. frame. Huot was 6' 4" 210 lbs., could run as well and could stretch the field with his arm. Cliff could not

I don't think you were watching as closely as you think. We did not run QB power with either QB this season, and QB draw and zone read only a little bit with Ah Yat out there. That was a staple of our offense last season.

And I'm sorry, but Huot is nowhere near as capable a runner as Clif was, and if he was a much better passer than Clif, he probably would've pushed for playing time instead of being 3rd string.

Adding to the last sentence, if he was those things, he also probably wouldn’t have landed at the NAIA level after failing to do anything at the FCS level.

Quit cherry-picking and look at the whole season.

I'm not. He won the starting job after the PSU game (rightfully so), and then did this in the two most important games up until that point of the season, which is what my entire post was about.

This is in the context of him "not being given a chance", except he was given a chance to be the guy after PSU, which was the whole point of my post.

"Don't look at his bad games when we needed him to be good, only look at his good games" lmao

Do you think Fife should have been benched for the SDSU game? Did AhYat play well?

I was fine with it because Fife honestly played poorly enough to deserve it, and he showed in the two previous games that he wasn't gonna be good enough to beat them and that we couldn't count on him.

It's not like Logan put up EWU or Weber numbers against MSU and TSU. He scored 0 TDs, fumbled twice, letting TSU back into the game so we needed Junior to bail us out once again, barely averaged 100 yards, missed a ton of guys, couldn't handle the pressure, threw off his back foot all day/night, and only completed half his passes.

They could've put Huot in against SDSU for all I cared, I had seen enough of Fife.

I thought Ah Yat played fine. He made a couple dumb mistakes, but also did some really good things against the best defense we saw all year.

It was obvious the other offensive players did not trust him on the field. They had zero chance of winning against quality teams when he was playing. It reminded me of when the offensive line quit when Vidlak entered the game.
