Vigen to Washington State after Frisco?

He would be an excellent hire. Deep recruiting connections to the state and region.if Daly was his D coordinator they would own in-state recruiting, especially in Helena.
It sounds like Clay Bignell is out of his DC job at Southern Miss so he could also be a potential DC if either of those two were to land the head job, or if Daly was part of the possible Vigen departure.

I gotta say, for all the crap that some Griz fans give the Cats for hiring Choate and then Vigen, they did a great job finding the right guys. Choate set the foundation, and Vigen added to it. If Vigen does end up leaving, the next coach will be set up nicely to keep the machine running.
Kind of felt like that when Bobby left.

The Griz Machine sputtered a bit since then, but is still there ready to get rolling again. It felt like it started running hard in ‘23, and maybe that is why it was so disappointing this year. Let’s see what ‘25 brings.

I’m hearing rumblings that Garza and Housewright are in the mix should Sixx move on.
Given the late hiring date, the pressure for a quick hire, and the upcoming departure of a certain jilted lover/university president, I wouldn’t be surprised if the cats panic and get on the ship to shore radio to have discussions with the skipper of the .500.

Maybe pleats will be the spring fashion rage in cowtown?

Vigan would be a good hire moving up to the FBS. He’s done excellent recruiting and put the best team together in Bobcat history. For the person that said Bobby is on WSU’s radar…..you are mistaken. He’ll be off the radar in Missoula when his contract expires in a couple years.

If Vigen does leave, which right now nobody seems to have any clear idea with what's going on at Wazzu, whoever the head coach for the cats is next year is gonna have their hands full. Check out their 2025 schedule:

@ Oregon
vs. South Dakota State
vs. San Diego
vs. Mercyhurst
vs. Eastern Washington
@ Northern Arizona
vs. Idaho State
@ Cal Poly
@ Northern Colorado
vs. Weber State
vs. UC Davis
@ Montana

Those are some tough road games next year at Oregon, NAU, and UM. Plus they also host SDSU and Davis. Not an easy schedule by any stretch of the imagination. They could potentially start the season 0-2 and back themselves into a serious corner.

Agree it will be a huge challenge to get the #1 or #2 seed with this schedule. Still likely top four but will have to travel to Brookings or Fargo for the semis.

The Cats in their current state should be considered one of the top 5 FCS head coaching positions along with UM, NDSU, SDSU and USD in no particular order. These schools have proven to be able to consistently win because they have the advantage of being the big fish in a small pond. If someone wants a good head coaching gig they would be an idiot to turn down MSU.

WSU is also no slouch of an FBS program. They have a lot of history with great coaches and players coming through Pullman. WSU is a lot better job than Choate at Nevada for example.

I wonder how many guys'll turn down the bubs this go-round before they sucker someone into taking the gig.
I know you’re joking, but I’m sure coaches will be very hesitant to want to go to a top tier FCS school where the last two coaches will have left for bigger/better jobs. Totally a huge concern for any candidate.

A head coaching salary amount that is contracting 😳

When’s the last time that you’ve heard that? The PAC 12 is nothing but a new version of the Mtn, West.

Well there is a track record...

A 3 loss team is NOT going to be a top 4 seed.
Probably not but it all depends on what the other top teams do. NDSU and SDSU were both top four seeds with two losses each, so if the Cats had 3 or 4 losses and everything else the same, one of them still would have been a top four even with one other loss. Even if you assume the Cats lose the first two, they're still ranked what, 5 or 6? then smooth sailing until the last game of the season.
