Vigen to Washington State after Frisco?

Can he successfully coach at a place where assistant coaches are required to not drink and drive? Doubt anywhere but MSU would let him hire and continue to employ people like that.
Honestly the school that made Mike Price and Ryan Leaf great is probably the best chance of that in the FBS. Pullman is in the middle of nowhere and the media is not tough at all on the program.

It looks like WSU wants to lower the salary with this hire which would probably limit them to FCS head coaches and non power 4 assistants. Vigen seems like the obvious choice given this. The downside is WSU is going to have to wait until after the game in Frisco to make it official.

If this happens will he take most of the players and staff with him?
Not worried. Our whole starting d-line will be Montanans, our linebackers will be Montanans, o-line will be fine. The guys I could see leaving are Moore, Scottie, maybeee Julius. As far as assistants I think Daly and Owens stick around and that is going to be enough. And this is all assuming Vigen leaves at all.

Lol.

Elrod, the sad, but true reality is that shit like that happens everywhere. You know what happens down south? It just never makes the news. Football is their religion, and if you’re winning, ain’t nobody getting in trouble for nothing. I know, I know, I have no “proof”. Never had proof that players were getting paid before NIL either, but everybody with a functioning brain knew it was true. Same is true here. Steve Sarkisian, heck, look at any story of that old Cajun coach LSU had that was an assistant at Miami in their glory days. Alcohol and drugs are unfortunately rooted in American football. The coaches, fans, players, all of em.

For all I know, you are right. My future wife spent most of her adult life south of the Mason-Dixon, and she is more than a little bit appalled about the way Montanans excuse drunk driving. I'd assumed you couldn't get away with that kind of stuff down there in the land of pearl clutching and dry counties. I'd like to think that isn't the case when it comes to DUIs, but that's probably the optimist in me.

You would not be able to pay me enough to coach at WSU
WSU is an interesting situation for sure. They are remote, it seems like they want to cut costs, and their coach left for what is also not considered a great program but WSU should have still have the most resources and support to run the new Pac conference. It might not be a bad gig for an FCS coach.

No they wouldn’t. Klieman was announced as Kansas State’s coach before Frisco. Same with Craig Bohl. GJ Kinne and Troy Taylor were both announced during their playoff runs. There’s no reason to wait unless Vigen asks them to.

Vigen seems like the kind of guy who would ask that. I would expect Vigen to be hired if we do not hear them hiring someone else in the next week.

Don't think Wazzu has the funds to go after Moore from Missouri (one of the names being repeatedly mentioned) so have to agree.

As I said in earlier post: Tommy gone, Cruzado gone and, in a matter of time, Vigan gone. And when that happens coaches and portal players follow. I don't see this ending well for the shitty kitties.

If Vigen turns it down BH could be a candidate for WSU but Vigen should be the better choice since he is younger.

This might be one of the dumber posts in this thread. NDSU lost multiple coaches and incredible qbs and they only got better. Cats have established incredible depth thanks to all of the ass kickings this year and we return a bunch of studs. We will be just fine

Good Lord you are naive to think that. Tommy leaving alone is a huge setback to the program. Don’t care who the backup is, TM is the main reason the Cats are in the chipper again. There is plenty of money from donors in Bozeman, but you have to replace the coach and players who hit the portal (already rumors of several). Not an easy recovery. MSU isn’t NDSU, who has one hell of a coaching tree. Would one of the assistants take the head job? Unlikely they get serious consideration. Both probably follow Vigen. Recruiting takes a hit as well. Anybody thinking differently is very naive.
