Frank Gogola Article

MSU has the top rated HS QB from Oklahoma coming in as well. If Vigan stays there's no reason to think the Cats won't be competing for a natty again next year.
Reason #1 Cats are going to lose to UM next year if Vigen is coming back. Do the Cats have a first round bye after losing at UM? Without a first round bye the Cats are going to have to go on the road to a top seed and probably lose by the quarterfinals at best.

I don’t care who he is. He didn’t light it up when he saw action this year. And you don’t just simply replace a potential Payton Award winner. You’ll miss his captain and leadership as much as his game play. The cats will not be close to as good at the most important position on the field. That will show 100%.
Though I tend to agree here... I will say, most thought the same thing when Lulay graduated, and McGhee came in and lit it up, then when he left, Prukop came in and continued it... I totally agree that the biggest loss will be his leadership. You don't just replace that.

Nah, never predicted that Cats were a lock to win it all, and I'm certainly not saying that this year. I'm just saying this program is built differently now. There are a LOT of things Choate started to build a championship program, and Vigen has built on that. I've said this numerous times but Vigen came on board with the blueprint for what it takes to build a dynasty. I'm also not saying the Cats are a dynasty yet, we'll see. But it's evident they are right there with the DSUs.

Good luck with this. Keep in mind, you're arguing with a guy that says the Cats haven't made the semi's yet because it's only Thursday.
I didn't argue that the Cats hadn't made the semi's because it was Wednesday. I merely asked a question.

I wanted to see how you had determined your statement that the Cats were in 4 semis in the past 5 years. I knew that there had been 6 semi's played in the last 5 years (plus a day). So, where was 4 of 5 coming from? Were you using the term "year" to me "season" or not?

I also knew that this Saturday is actually 5 years plus 1 day from the semifinal game in 2019, and there there had been 6 semi's in 6 seasons in that 5 year plus a day period. So, this Saturday isn't technically within a 5-year period. However, last Wednesday or whenever I made the post was within 5 years. So that's why I said "not yet".

But mostly, I was wondering how you determined Cats were in 4 semi's in past 5 years, because there had been/will be 6 semi's played in the last 5 years plus a day. Again, I didn't question anything you said in my initial post. I just asked how you were making your calculation. I was curious.

Sorry that this went way over your head, as well as the heads of many other posts. I should have known that you wouldn't just answer the question. You had to fly off in another direction.

I believe Mellott is more valuable and key to the team than the other mentioned QB's.

I thought Tommy was just a RB playing QB? Now the cats can't win without him?

You're going to be hugely disappointed next year when the bobcats average 300 yards rushing per game again.
This still does not mean they can't be much worse without Tommy. He is the catalyst to their entire offense, and he rarely ever makes mistakes. Can you guarantee their QB won't throw 20 picks next season? I sure can't.

A lot of discussion about the Cats on this thread, and how they won’t be as good next year.

They won’t be, but they will still be good since the program has laid a good foundation based on recruitment and development.

The real takeaway for Griz fans, IMO, is what does Montana do to close the gap or exceed the rival moving forward?

Does UM just bury its head in the sand and say everything is fine? Do the Griz just keep playing the portal lottery and hope to hit the jackpot with another Clif? Do they make a coaching change? Does the current staff shift the emphasis and tactics around recruiting and development?

Are you still pretending to be a Griz fan and not a bubz fan?
Just come out of the closet, man. You’re not fooling anyone

A lot of discussion because you and the other 17 cat trolls here keep going on and on about how the cats would beat the Chiefs at this point and will now go on a 10 year Bison run of National championships. There are a lot of reasonable posters here who are saying the cats are very good, especially this year, but that doesn’t mean they are a Bison dynasty yet. Hell they might get bounced Saturday still, who knows. It wouldn’t be a lot of cats discussion if you dumbass trolls would go back to your own board and get your validation there.

They're on a 5-year run that every single Griz fan would take.

I wouldn't trade for the Cat program. Some nice on-field success (certainly not last season, and after many years without success), but too many issues. For example, legal issues of coaches, poor decisions by administrators and head coach, some rumored PED stuff, not a great stadium, too cold late in season, have lost too many good players to Portal, coach turnover, have been fortunate to have Tommy but that will end after this season and likely cause a decline, too many obnoxious fans (the song stuff at weddings, etc.). I don't know where the Cats rank in player grades, but the Griz are up high. Their attendance has improved nicely, but it's still way below the Griz. I hear that YC and perhaps others have willing to put up some bucks. Good for them. And while the cities aren't the program, Missoula is a much better place than Bozeman.
