Bobcat Trolls in Real Life

Is it? I've not heard anyone from elsewhere say it. I thought I remembered Mike Mansfield saying it was specifically a Butte thing, but as a very non-Butte guy, I wouldn't know. I've barely even heard it among Butte people under the retirement age, though, to be honest.
Not entirely sure. My late grandpa used to say it all the time. Only MT tie was being born in Ekalaka.

Its a Butte thing according to my teammates from that area.

Miners in the Butte copper mines used to say "tap 'er light" to advise against tapping too heavily and causing rockslides in the mines. Later, it was adopted as a substitute for "take it easy" or "goodbye."

It referred to setting the explosive charges in the mine. Explosives of the era were not stable, and if you tapped them too hard into the drilled holes … you got an early retirement.

Tap ‘er light!

Interesting. Thanks. Maybe it's just a mining thing. Many of my friends' dads were miners (not in Butte), and I'd hear it from them growing up.

Maybe Montana Born is right, I was just relaying what I was told. Makes sense I guess

I am not from Butte only been there twice, once for a wedding and once for St Patrick's day. Interesting place.

It’s hilarious this is where griz fans are right now.

I generally don’t come here much anymore but mocking a genuinely good dude who isn’t even posting here, well good job I guess.

Cat fans are weird. This one represents 99% of the cat posters here to a T. Just keep this one in mind whenever you see a cat troll poster here. Save your key strokes, you’re arguing with a dude who wears sunglasses during the day and sleeps with his autographed Cats football while coming off like a k-mart Macho Man Savage. Something not right with them.

I always assumed it had something to do with tapping a keg and beer drinking....I mean it is Butte after all....

As a Mt Tech grad who worked several years in the mining industry (surface, underground and mine rescue), I concur with this definition. 🧨
