Riley Wilson in the portal

I didn’t say that they all play 100% of the time. I don’t believe there are multiple players that never play in 3 or 4 years as you suggest.
A lot of the guys that you assume never play for us actually get in on special teams, but regardless, there is still a non-zero number of players on every single football team in America that will never see the field for their entire playing career, and it's perfectly normal.

In short, your belief about this is just wrong. Happy to help, though.

On a semi-related note: We've seen a lot of people talking about "development" in the last year or so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are roughly three hours per week to "develop" in games during the season. The guys practice pretty much every day during the season.

This is part of why I don't really like the narrative of "[player] wasn't given a shot to prove himself", etc. This isn't college baseball where there are 40+ games to experiment with. I would hope that if a dude is consistently crushing it and outperforming the guy ahead of him on the depth chart in practice, he would get that "shot". In other words, I have to believe that the "shots" are given to every player every practice. Could be wrong.

I hope you’re right.

So, you are stating that special teams isn’t part of the game?

In summary, you and your buddy Helena don’t know what you’re talking about.
I said there are kids on every single team in America that will never see the field, even on special teams, and that it's perfectly normal.

Alabama had 37 players this season that did not participate at all, and only 2 of those were freshmen.

So once again, your belief to the contrary is just wrong.

This right here shows why winning the in-state recruiting battle is SO important. The chances of in-state guys leaving is much smaller…..sole reason why the Cats are having the year they are after losing so many portal guys last year. The Griz have to do better in this area
If numbers are an indicator of recruiting success, in 2024, UM had 51 Montana players on the roster. MSU, 46. SDSU had 26 from South Dakota. NDSU had 21 from North Dakota. Wyoming had 7 from Wyoming.

A lot (maybe even all) of those 35 players have never played a snap for Alabama despite being on the roster for multiple years.
Well, I’m glad I didn’t play when I was at UM. I wasn’t very good so I could have set on the bench for a couple of years.
