Fife in the portal

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think that Fife really was that much of a better QB than Ah Yat. Even if Fife got more playing time, I don’t think it changes the outcome of this season. I didn’t see much consistency. The games where he did play full games, he was either on, or very off. His ball security was also lacking as well. So I guess I just find it funny how everyone is so upset about him going into the portal when he wasn’t that much of an upgrade from Ah Yat. 🤷‍♂️

I doubt we will ever know the whole story but I’m not going to question his decision to leave. It was obvious he and Bobby (and coaching staff?)were not on the same page much of the time. I think this could be one of the issues with bringing in transfers. They don’t always adjust to the new environment and it may create issues in the locker room. It’s a delicate balance that doesn’t always work out.
On the other hand we all recognize that Bobby runs a tight ship and will not tolerate

I agree with coaches developing Ah Yat. Bringing in a transfer every year doesn't work. Ah Yat is very talented. I little impulse control and he can be great. Hope they don't bring in a transfer but they probably will.
This should have been done game one, if he truly was better than Fife in the coaches' eyes.

Does anyone think BHgave him his walking papers and told him to jump into the portal? Maybe BH was straight him and told him it was Ah Yat’s team for the next 3 years so take your talents else where thanks for trying. If that were the case I would question his judgement but also if he was honest about the situation with fife, well then maybe give him a little credit for being a straight shooter sometimes. No, After reading his post and didn’t mention coaches, he left on his own then and there is no communication with coaches which doesn’t bode well the for the future.

I don't think Fife would give him the satisfaction. I think Fife made his own decision weeks ago.

I think the main thing is the way the qb situation was handled. Neither of them got the fair shake they deserved and were jerked around by the coaching staff’s indecision, mind games, douchbaggery. I’m not saying one was better than the other, they both have strengths and weaknesses. But the way that it shook out as the season progressed pretty much left the writing on the wall. The staff essentially wasted a whole season for both these kids.

The real question is if this is the first domino to fall or if this is just a disgruntled (and rightfully so) player.

They almost have to bring in a transfer qb. Basically, 2 qb's left on the team and, at this point, no incoming high school recruit.

Fife got screwed by being handed the reigns to the team for the most important game of the year and the first playoff game, and proceeding to go 29 for 56 (52%) for 214 yards, 0TDS and 2 back-breaking fumbles.

This.

Just a question since there are only two parties being thrown out there on egriz, but who has our QB coach been the last two years with all the mass exodus? Did he ever get physical with a player which resulted in said player entering the portal. Does he have a reputation for wearing out his welcome at multiple places. Cliff got ragged on a lot for all of his stops. Ever seen the list of stops and length of tenure at those stops for BP? This might not all be a BH problem, but if it’s not then it’s a different BH problem.

You might be right, but it doesn’t seem like either quarterback was put in a position to maximize their potential by this staff.

You’re entitled to your opinion but the facts showed otherwise. In time time I believe AhYat will develop into a quality QB.

Yet during this season Fife stats were measurably better… percentage of completions, yards per pass… Not hating AhYat but he threw as many picks in this last game as Fife had all season. So ball security was much more of an issue for AhYat who turned it over far more throughout the year

Again this is all yesterday’s news. I will never understand why Fife wasn’t even given a snap in So Dakota when our offense was struggling to even get a first down. We needed a spark and we will never know in Fife might have provided it. Does not matter now. Go Griz
