Official Game Day Thread - Round 2 Jackwabbits

My only humble suggestion before I get off eGriz for a while is to consider taking a walk for a bit.

I'm serious, before it gets too dark. Take the dogs, or the kids, or just go by yourself. I think it will make you feel much better than getting your blood boiling on here tonight.

Lots of offseason to argue about what happened.

It's been a joy cheering this team on with you all this season.

Go Griz, forever.
I'm headed to a work Christmas party.

To most of you Merry Christmas, I’ll be back next Fall. To the whiny bitches please go be whiny bitches for another team.

I think Hauck did a good job this year, I see what his plan is and agree with it. That being said I know the program needs a different coach. Hauck has been here way too long and needs to move on.

If AY is “the guy,” I fear the Griz may have a couple of iffy seasons ahead. To me, he hasn’t progressed one iota from last spring, still takes forever to decide what he is going to do, and has one of the slowest releases in college FB.
He was the guy all day today. If they find a QB better than Fife in the portal this off season, he may not be the guy next year.

Fife isn't a good QB. I have zero issue with him leaving. You make it sound like he is the next all-conference type QB, and he just isn't.
Here is the thing, I haven't ever said that Ah Yat is a good QB, but have said over and over that Fife isn't. You keep using Ah Yat as the measuring stick, but that is a low bar. The Griz need better QB play, and Fife wasn't the answer. Overall the difference between Ah Yat and Fife isn/t a large gap.
Except for stat lines, but you keep being you.

And you keep thinking that Fife is a good QB.
I don't know if Fife is a good QB in the bigger scheme of things, but as it currently stands, his stats were better than Ah Yat's.

Do I think Ah Yat is bad? Hell no! In fact, nothing would make me more happy than to see a legacy player absolutely kill it and I do think he is going to be an awesome QB in the future.

This is the sort of stuff I bitch about. It seems the staff is unwilling to choose the right players for the situation.

No matter what we thought about this year being handled. It’s KAY all the way the next year win or lose. Develop him. Get him a QB coach in the
When Bobby runs the team onto the field next fall, I assume most of you will quit being fans and start rooting for another team.
What about you? You dog on players and performance all the time. So, honest question: how are you any different? Not looking for a pissing match, but seems pretty hypocritical calling people out.

This. The staff has proven they have ZERO ability to develop a qb. Several good places to take a young qb to get some work in. That said, his biggest issue currently is he needs game time so the game will slow down for him. He’s always in a rush. The end of this game should hopefully give him some confidence going into the off season
Agreed, but he’s had more than his share of game time especially for a RS frosh, amd it clearly has not slowed down at all. I hope this happens.

The staff have mismanaged the qb room terribly and it shows. The game doesn’t slow down if you cant consistently get into the game and build chemistry! This was one of the few all KAY shows. We did see it start to slow towards the end and he did take more downfield shots. That was fantastic. The TD pass to Racanelli was against the starting secondary. Now if only there was a run game to accompany it.

I’ll give it to the guys though, there was no quit. That includes KAY. The kid has heart for days. Right down to the final seconds they were fighting thier asses off. As imperfect as this team is, they have the “never give up” part down.

I will spot you that Keali’i has heart, as does the team behind him. I love his dad as my all-time #2 Griz QB. I’ll never forget his bombs to Joe Douglas for 40 yards per and a thousand TDS. I also believe that, with 2-3 more years development, he could be pretty special. And altho he has had a few passes that were absolute dimes, he is nowhere close to having the consistency required for sustained success at this level. There are too many errant / early/ late throws and bad reads. I like the guy. I want him to be the guy, but putting him in these game time situations at his current level of development, for me, is borderline dereliction of duty on the staff. He’s not ready. I hope this changes fast and soon.

And I think the staff did him (and Fife!) dirty with thier rotation antics. The way it was done this season ensured that nobody progressed and messed with people’s heads to the point of regression. A botched coaching job for sure.
