QB who?

That's a different situation. Vigen was a first year head coach and Matt McKay wasn't his recruit. Hauck and staff recruited Fife and he is "their guy". Although Tommy wasn't Vigen's recruit either, he recognized Tommy was a future All American at the QB position and named him starter. When McKay decided to leave, Vigen simply didn't care. Good riddance.
i remember another bobcat qb transfer that went to play at Idaho and was replaced mid game and never played again.

Remember when the Griz whooped the cats so bad that their QB literally quit the next day even though they were still in the playoffs LOL. Was that Murray?
Don't believe that was Murray. He was during the Choate era. He beat the griz as a true freshman. Maybe it was McKay when Tommy took over in 2021.

Griz are huge under dogs no doubt this game. But if you look at 3 of 4 loses this year and one side of the ball just played poorly. UND and Weber the defense played their worst two games of the year. They have played pretty decent recently. The offense played well early but really played poorly vs Davis. Cats are just better this year than Griz but I felt the Griz D was respectable especially since they were on the field so long. I’m saying that if the Griz can sustain any drives and be close at half they have a shot. As far as QB goes I would say we’ve seen all what Fife has to offer. He’s 23-24 years old and in his 5 th year of college football. He had some great games this year and I’m sure he’s frustrated with rotation of QBs. But he has made some critical mistakes. If he is as unhappy this year as everyone believes on here and we don’t have a chance why play him if he’s leaving? Ah Yat will be a good QB. Give him a shot here. Guys already talking about transfers well your QB next year is Ah Yat.

This is not a next year game. Fife is our best quarterback and should play. Who knows, maybe AhYat leaves as well?

Yeah it was McKay that bailed after he got benched for freezing up under um's pressure defense.
Murray beat the gris in 16 and 17. One year was the flip into the endzone, next year was the 3rd and 32 play.
then he flunked out.

I agree with Spanky--this is not a " next-yesr" game. We played Keali'i last year in 2-3 regular-season games so as not to burn his redshirt and then a little in the playoffs. He looked like a good, athletic runner and not so good at throwing the football. And this year, he again was a good, athletic runner and not so good at throwing the football. If Keali'i made any progress year to year, I didn't see it.

Maybe, hopefully Keali'i will make progress, but in this AP era, After Portal, who is to say that he doesn't enter the portal, aka Daniel Britt and Clif McDowell ? Two years ago, freshman Daniel Britt had impressed most of GRIZ Nation with his mobility , similar to Keali Ah Yat, but he could throw the football better than Ah Yat, had moved up to our # 2 QB, relegating Kris Brown to 3rd String, and he threw for over 100 yards in the second half and a TD against NDSU in Fargo after Lucas Johnson got hurt in the playoffs, and then a funny thing happened after out loss to The Bison--our quaterback of the future Daniel Britt entered the transfer portal and was gone !!! We're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy, we're in the Land of The Transfer Portal !!!

Logan only has one year of eligibility left--Keali'i has three. Having only one year of eligibility left, Logan most likely knows the number of schools interested in a one-year QB are very limited !!! I don't think Logan Fife is going anywhere next year--maybe I am wrong ?

Our offense performed best this year--Eastern, Weber, NAU, and PSU-- when Logan Fife was behind center, and that's why he needs to be behind center for us on Saturday in South Dakota for us to have any chance at an upset of SDSU !!!

If as a coach, if you knew you had players leaving... would you still play them? If you think Fife gives you the best chance to win but you knew he was leaving no matter what, you still play him or go with Ah Yat?

And since Logan Fife has not entered the transfer portal, I guess then that you play him since a coach can't logically base his decisions on rumor, gossip, and innuendo !!!

Also Fife is 19/56 for 214 yards total in last two games. And those fumbles were really bad. If he was tearing it up and you knew he was leaving that is one thing. But he isn't. Go with the future now. Remember Bobby is in his first year of contract not his last. Last week had flashes of the future with Fonoti and Bridges also. Just let Ah Yat know he is playing and he doesn't have to look over his shoulder each series.

Fife is 29/56 for 214. Still not very great, but 52% is at least better than 34% lol

Counterpoint: If it was Morehead or PSU, I can see letting a QB cut his teeth. Not in an elimination game where we're going to have to play perfectly.
