Fife isnt the answer

I think Tommy could get a look by an NFL team due to his speed, work ethic and character--not as a QB but as a WR, probably slot.

And though I have never met Tommy, I know that he's a great kid !!! In 2020, when he was a high-school senior and the East-West Shrine game was cancelled due to Covid, since Tommy couldn't play in the cancelled game, he hosted a corn-hole tournament in Butte that raised $50,000 for the Spokane Shriner's hospital. As a Freemason and a Shriner, that met a lot to me after losing our biggest annual fundraiser for the hospital. Much more important than my feelings, that $ 50,000 helped provide free medical care for the Montana kids at the hospital !!!

Noone on Butte has anything but good to say about Tommy. Humble good kid.

So is Fife infallible or not? This thread has been so confusing...
I doubt anyone believes he’s infallible, including his own parents, so the answer is no. But I believe he remains the QB who gives UM the best opportunity to win. OL play needs to improve in both the run game and pass protection, or no QB will succeed. I am not sure if play calling has been ill-conceived or has been dictated by inadequate OL play, but the OL needs to execute better.

If he insists on handing off to running backs and wont throw laterally behind the line of scrimmage over and over he wont fit (this is not a knock on Fife.....he does what Pease says to do)

I am a Griz fan and a Tommy Mellot fan. Number 1 because he is a great kid. But as far as a QB goes he has gotten better every year. He is very athletic, tough as hell, throws a decent ball but more importantly he is very smart and a great leader. The kid is going to do well in life. I don't think most fans have any idea how much these kids on both teams put into a season. I can hardly sit in the stands anymore and listen to many around me. I think they forget that the players on the other teams are also D1 athletes that have been recruited and are working their asses off too. Look at all the players that have played over the years in the Cat Griz games. Look how many are leaders in their communities as doctors, attorneys, business leaders, teachers, coaches etc.
Been beating this drum for years. It's my pet peeve to hear all these pathetic fans call any Div I team bad and shit on any of these guys on the field.

Unless one or both grandfathers died in a mineshaft collapse, we don’t want him.
True. Bonus if he doesn't start fights but knows how to end them. We want a toughneck, rugged collar guy who cares about family, a hard day's work at the sheet metal plant, and football, in that order. Shows up early; stays late. Knows when to put a foot in the ground and go north/south. Understands the name on the front of the jersey is more important than the one on the back. The son of a turd farmer from Cut Bank or Miles City. Not gonna light up the stat column but knows how to get things done. Double bonus if he grew up rasslin' steer.

You obviously don't understand how hard it is to raise turds in MC.
