The Brawl

No, I was addressing a Griz poster who said we couldn’t possibly stop the Cat run and didn’t have the ability to address the Cat scheme. I said we sure did last year, and the coaches would start with T. Hauck’s prior scheme and adjust.

Yes, Cat offense has changed to some extent.

The Griz coaches will make the adjustments this year and haven’t yet told me what they will be. Ha.

Yes, Gubner gone, but the replacement are good too. Just not as good.

What you said about the season D adjustments is not correct. Yes, secondary playing better and making fewer mistakes.

I expect a good game. I don’t expect a blow out unless the Griz blow out the Cats again this year.
Listen to Hobbs on this week's podcast. He continues the d-line is horrible. Then again, you know more about playing d-line than he does.

those 4 games
PSU 213 BSC Avg 187
UCD 130 BSC Avg 139
CP 63 BSC Avg 104
UNC 65 BSC Avg 141

So you played 3 of the worst 4 rushing teams in the BSC and held 2 of them below their average.
PSU which is the 6th best rushing team in the BSC exceeded their average.

cherry picking doesn't tell the story
Taking the past 4 games when the D started playing well is not cherry picking. Also, why are the Cats only giving up 33 less, against a weaker schedule according to Sagarin?

Didn’t Davis get over 80 yards more against Cats than Griz? Didn’t Davis average 6.2 yards per play against Cats? And only 5 against Griz? I am on Navajo reservation now and having trouble getting good internet. Griz O was probably against Davis, not the D.

I doubt the Griz are very worried about your passing game. Griz have some dudes this year too. Improving each week now. Need to eliminate mistakes. Need to have discipline. We’ll see if the Griz D is up to the task. The Cats have some passing this, but are still a dangerous run team.
The griz are improving each week yet just struggled to beat PSU, at home, in the 11th game of the season? Ouch.

Two very different games the way they played out. Cherry picking a stat here and there may give you hope going into this game but true analysis takes a little more than that. All you are doing is going over stats trying to find something that supports your biases.

How come PSU rushed for 213 vs um and 149 vs MSU
Oh and MSU rushed for 323 vs PSU while UM rushed for 199
Pretty significant differences, especially when you consider that MSU was on the road and um was at home

That is just one set of stats and it doesn't tell the whole story, but as I watched PSU run between the tackles over and over and over last Saturday it made me feel pretty confident about the Cats being able to do the same to that defensive front.

UM didn’t struggle to beat PSU. Games are 60 minutes and 2 halves. I think Griz scored 3 straight TD’s in 3d Q. That is hardly struggling.

How did UM hold Davis to 4 yards per carry, if Davis ran all over Griz, and why did Davis get 5.2 per carry against Cats? Jedz, Davis had way more running plays against Griz. That explains the extra yardage. If you take away the extra running plays against Griz, Griz held Davis to fewer rushing yards than Cats did.

Not to mention, PSU had 53 yards through the 3rd quarter and gained about 100 of their rushing yards on their final 2 drives of the game (largely against MSU reserves). That being said, PSU is a difficult comp as they are so Jekyll and Hyde with their effort and performance.

I love how PR continues to grasp at straws and talk about all the woulda couldas shouldas, and if onlys in all these Cat WINS! Almost like he's trying to convince us Cat posters (oe himself) that the Cats aren't clearly the best team in the Big Sky, hands down.

Couple of things you may have missed,
"2 very different games"
"You played 3 of the 4 worst rushing teams in the BSC"
Both of these points were made in my previous post but evidently reading comprehension isn't your thing.

1st MSU game plan was obviously to pressure Hastings and "get him off his spot" This being the plan MSU sacrificed some of the run game. 2nd a good part of those yards came in the final 5 minutes of the game after the Cats had dominated for 3 quarters. MSU had gone into a pretty conservative mode and had to get back into the game.
In your game the roles were pretty much reversed. Davis was going to run the ball and run clock and they did it effectively.

For the second point that you missed, Davis is one of those 4 worst rushing teams in the BSC. If you dont get all of that I understand, I have seen your posts before.

They run the ball 2/3s of the time according to stats on MSU bobcat football website. Thats not balanced on offense. I like how our secondary matches up with the quality of WRs the cats have. That goes in our favor. Make Mellot throw to win and if they do tip your hat to them. The only thing he is good at is side line to side line passes His delivery or ability to process is slow and rarely does he ever hit anyone in stride, WRs are always making adjustments, slowing down or coming back for the ball.
Have you watched a Cat game this year?

Did he judge Hayden on the game he played after returned on a Friday from spending the week with his mom at his dad's funeral?
1) This is my assumption here, but I thought it sounded like he was for sure talking about the Portland State game, and more than likely talking about the whole season.

2) He specifically said if Bobby wants to create competition somewhere, it should be the DL because they’re trash.

3) Also said the LB’s play with bad eyes.

It’s a good listen. I recommend if you have some time. Brint and co do a great job. There are a lot of FBS schools that don’t have a fan podcast that good. Props to them.

Thanks. I don't have time to listen to podcasts and people rambling. I sent a text to him. I don't agree with him on either the d-line or the linebackers. The D is giving up 33 yards per game more in rushing than the Cats. Riley Wilson is going to turn out to be the best linebacker at UM since McConnell. UM is giving up 8 more points a game than the Cats. That's directly attributable to the 2 high scoring games, where the D didn't play well and many big and costly mistakes were made. Tirrell and Wilson are 5th (89) and 18th in the co conference in tackles. Harris is better this year than last year. 5th in sacks. All-conference. I like the 2 other top d-ends better than what we had last year. The d-line has more depth than last year, and is slightly heavier. Losing Gubner didn't make the d-line trash, unless they were last year too. Kao and Otlewski have combined for 76 tackles. Ya, none of them are Hill. I will try to check on some things with the coaches.

Well he played the game and a lot more recently than you. He’s talking about his position, so I’m certainly inclined to think he knows more than you on the subject.
