Cats currently have lowest SOS in the conference

Idaho has 5th best SOS in Massey. Cats 51 and Griz 30.

The difference in SOS of the top 15 or so teams varies greatly.

I think we need to realize that past the top ten teams in FCS, the rest are just not that good this year.
Which is, IHO, sad

UM's schedule hasn't been easy so far. It's been a fairly good schedule. Missouri St is good. 4-0 in confernce and 6-2. Would be ranked in Stats poll if not moving to FBS. "Missouri State is ranked No. 17 in this week's AFCA FCS Coaches Poll."UND is good, is 5-3 and is ranked 15th. West Carolina is pretty good and ranked 31st. 3-1 in conference. Just dropped out of top 25 this week. Weber was ranked, but not now. NAU is 3-0 in conference and ranked 29th Missouri St (113) is ranked higher than New Mexico in the Sagarin (122). On the other hand, Idaho is way back 130 in the Sagarin.
What? NAU is 2-2, 4-4.

Looking forward to the last four games as anything can happen this year. This weeks rankings can look entirely different after these next four weeks. Yes, the conference is weaker this year, but the Cats face teams that can be dangerous. The Griz are not out of it by any means. Both the Cats and Griz need to take care of business the next four weeks. I like the way the Cats are playing and how they approach each game. Tommy has been getting better each game this year and is having a great season. You can never count out the Griz, as they always finish strong. It ain't over until its over. Looking forward to it.

Of course you have. But will you have the same opinion when the griz get their asses handed to them in November?
Oh so many times over the years we have watched kitten fans say how good they are. Tell the world they would beat the Griz. How they were preseason champs. How a natty was right around the corner. I say let the games play out there pard. The Cats have played no one of significance. The Big Sky appears to be weak again this year. While MVFC teams are getting battle tested, Big Sky teams are playing patty cake. Let’s see how the next four games go. Especially on the road for both the Griz and the Cats. I wouldn’t be overlooking EWU. You never know with that game.

To be fair this goes both ways. Though I understand this is the griz board so you're looking at that through that lens. But I can assure you that you could go back and look at posts in '22 with griz fans claiming they were going to kill the Cats. Just like right now over here there are many fans claiming they're going to kill us in Bozeman this year. So I really don't see the difference when Cat fans are just as boisterous about beating the griz. One will always be right, and one will always be wrong.

I'm a Cat fan. I really like our team this year. I love how we play at home. I think we're going to beat the griz in Bozeman in a few weeks. I won't talk trash about it because I think that's silly. But it's how I feel. And I expect us to make a run in the playoffs this year. I might be wrong and we'll slip up. But I don't think I'm some sort of crazy cocky fan to expect to beat the griz in Bozeman and have a legitimate shot at Frisco either. Just like griz fans expecting to upset us in Bozeman and ride that momentum into the playoffs.

But to be clear we do seem to have some obnoxious fans over here spouting off. So I get that. I just don't think the fanbases are all that different. Lots of very good fans on both sides with their share of idiots chiming in. ;)

Many? Kill?
Come on.
There have only been a few who even believe The Griz can win. You can probably only name 2 or 3 of those, and maybe one who would say “kill”. Most are saying the exact opposite.
Is it the little man syndrome that makes all bubz exaggerate so much?

:ROFLMAO:

Can't speak to that last part. I'll watch my wording for you going forward. How about I say that there are definitely fans on both side of the rivalry that expect to beat the other regardless of where the game is played, and I'd say "lots" on both sides expect their team to make a run in the playoffs year after year. I hope my usage of "lots" isn't too far-fetched. I just don't think my take was all that wild.

More like little man syndrome using a term like "Bubz".

It's great to see there is a sober bobcat fan.

The cats are undefeated so far this year. With that in mind then, why are they ranked number two behind a team with one loss on record?
Could it be related to this SOS thing?

I haven't seen many posts saying Griz were going to "kill" Cats. Only some are even saying Griz will win. Most are quiet.

I assume there aren't Griz on the Cat board saying the Griz are going to kill the Cats? The fan bases may not be different, but the message boards are.

I'm not sold on the Cats. Especially on the Cat D. Haven't followed them as much lately, tho. If the Cats clobber Davis, then I might start believing. The Cats just haven't played many harder games. I didn't see the Idaho game. The big margin surprised me. But that was a good Cat win. I haven't followed Idaho much either.

If the Griz win their next several games, I'm not too worried about playing the Cats. I think the Griz O can move on the Cat D. Based only on a few games, it looks like the Griz D has come back to life and is playing well. If the Griz have faltered, then I will have to reassess.

I assume the Cats still have some important injuries. If Tommy has to start running more, he will be vulnerable. Cats have nothing in reserve at QB. This is about the time of the year, when the Cats have stopped improving and start moving backwards. Perhaps the coach has learned his lesson on that.

While the Griz and Griz D have not been dominant, except in short spurts, one can argue that the Griz are only 2 plays away from being undefeated. While that's true, I'm not hanging my hat on that.

Money and poor are making Cat posters like you look like great posters. I depart for AZ in 2.5 weeks. Do you ever go to Dukes for Cat-Griz? My Bozeman brother retired and got a place in our Over 55 in Mesa. I went to a Simkins wedding in Denver last weekend.

The one loss was an FBS loss… to a top 25 team and the game was close.
