Recruiting ?

No you didn't. Somebody else asked a question about his best all time recruits, and I thought it was interesting, so I answered with some names. You didn't ask me to name good current Hauck recruits, lol, you just butted in to something else and made a point I still don't really understand.

Hauck 2.0 has had plenty of good guys. It has been re-hashed in many ways that of course we don't have as many guys put into the NFL as in Hauck 1.0, and I'd argue the pipeline was not nearly the same when he came back the second time, but we have had some damn good guys. If you would have asked me the question of "has he recruited anybody good in Hauck 2.0," then that would have been a very different question.

You're taking my answer to an entirely different question, and pretending that it somehow proves that Hauck hasn't been recuiting well in 2.0.

Part of the problem in evaluating it is that because of Covid, we are just NOW getting to Bobby's recruits graduating last year. Even some of those kids weren't recruited by this staff.

Gilman may be the most all around talented running back we have ever had at Montana. Ostmo is going to be high on career rushing yards. Knight holds the single season TD record. Bergen will go down as an all-time Griz great no matter how he finished this year. We have multiple all-big sky linemen since he has been back. Justin Ford was one of my favorite DBs the Griz have ever had. We have had a run of absolute stud linebackers. Ah Yat, Flowers, Sliter, and Huot were all great gets at QB in recent years.

We signed the top rated HS RB to EVER sign with the Griz a couple of years back, and then Gilman was so good that he pushed the guy out.

Hill, Janacaro, O'Connell, Wilson, and a number of other good LBs.

Genatone was a big get that we took from out from under Nebraska's nose. AJ Forbes was a huge get.

Our recruiting has been better than the vast, vast majority of FCS teams.

BTW, did you enjoy the run to the national championship last year? I did. It was great.
Can you tell me how many from last year's graduating class were drafted to the NFL ?

Out of high school: Bergan Gillman Ostmo Hill White Harris (X) Ah Yat Casey Gradney
Transfers: Wilson Sneed Hauck Forbes Ford(J) Cotton

I will not list ones that quit and moved elsewhere

New age of College Football... I think we would be happy if Eli were to move on and have success at the FBS level, that bodes well for UM. This will only increase recruiting advantages if we are able to consistently move players to the FBS. Players will notice a trend and see this as a great place to get exposure and good coaching.
I do not see the need for him to move. He will get drafted IMO. The only option is how high which would then effect his signing bonus.

I 100% agree that he will get looked and drafted while staying at the Griz. I was only offering a silver lining if players of his caliber decide to try their luck at a higher level FBS. I think that only helps recruiting more players of his caliber.

You know that answer is 0. You're arguing against a point I didn't make. But you know that.

How many total players from the Big Sky were drafted to the NFL from last year's graduating class?

As to your final question, I think his answer would depend on whether Hoops enjoyed the run to the NC. Dude is obsessed with Hoops.

I've never seen anything like the level of obsession some folks on eGriz have for Hoops, especially when almost none of them have even met the guy.

Why an we not recruit a higher level athletes ? Certainly we are losing some because we are FCS but what about North and South Dakota? They are close to Minnesota but there is a lot of teams recruiting in the Midwest and they seem to find the good ones.
Boobie might be a big factor here.

Yes. The coach who came back when we were unranked and took us back to the national championship is a problem in recruiting. Makes logical sense to me.

Do you have any data points to show that our recruiting has gotten worse since Bobby returned?

Strange because their engineering programs have traditionally been pretty easy. Tech typically would weed out 50-60% of our freshmen class during the first few years. Many would end up at MSU, graduate and have professional success. I personally knew a a few that flunked out at Tech and made the Deans List at MSU
Both my daughter and my son-in-law are Tech engineering grads, with honors. Neither one of them ever considered MSU.

Montana recruits very high level athletes. Recruiting has been very good in recent years. The Portal is now an important part of recruiting.

Could you first explain why you think UM doesn't recruit or have a very high level of athletes? You brought the subject. You should explain yourself.
Read the thread that should answer your question but you already know the answer. You are for what ever reason challenging my statement just because you want to challenge me.
I see nothing in the thread that explains your statement. Are you will to answer or just defer?

Support what you say. My comment has nothing to do with you, but your statement is wrong. You read the thread. Your opinion means nothing to me. Support it. After you support your opinion with facts, I will address them if I can.

If we were undefeated right now, this thread would not even be happening. We're two plays away from being undefeated. Get real! We've got great young players. We lost a lot of great players-on defense especially-from last year. Accept the team for what it is now-not what we should have been or recruited. If any of you on this site have recruited, you have a say, otherwise, shut your mouths, and support what these student athletes are trying to accomplish on the field. Every year when Payton posts the recruits, 9/10 posters on this site are talking up the recruits. Shit, we lost two close games, and all of a sudden, we have a bunch of chicken little, "sky is falling" babies. Come on. If you have or haven't played the game, every team is different every year. Go Griz!!!
