Recruiting ?

What type of post are you talking about ? Seems when a subject is possibly repeated according to you that post happens every year.
If people like you think we aren’t recruiting Montana kids you are insane. The Bobcats have beat us on a lot of guys this year, more than normal. They are doing a great job, have a great program. So do we. Chase Cook and others may end up being better than the “top rated” guys. We will see. How is this hard to understand?

Glaciers QB is going to Boise State or bigger, West’s QB is a good player but a fringe Big Sky talent probably a Frontier guy. Capitals QB is committed to Montana!!! Do you follow this at all??

Also, Glacier and West’s QB’s are JUNIORS not Seniors.
Enough with the facts. Come on man….

I never said that.

Griz need to recruit some smash mouth DE, DL and LB.
It would be wonderful to recruit another Biermann, Gubner, Tyrone Holmes or Dante Olson
Why not go after some of the top AA high school seniors at Billings, Glacier, Butte, etc.
And yes I know it takes a couple of years to get the high schoolers coming in to play anywhere near this level.
Unfortunately you cannot teach speed, also we lost 2 really good players in Kale Edwards and Vince Genatone. These 2 were definitely in that category.

The post that says the Griz recruiting if falling behind others. post 1 in this thread happens every year
This is my post and the start of the thread. It is asking questions. Can you answer my questions?

Why an we not recruit a higher level athletes ? Certainly we are losing some because we are FCS but what about North and South Dakota? They are close to Minnesota but there is a lot of teams recruiting in the Midwest and they seem to find the good ones.

Geography matters.

Just like I said Bobby tries to be like an academy…,,,Army has not won a Natty since the 40’s. And Navy never has.
What about Nick Saban and Kirby Smart and Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh?? Only “players coach” to win a natty recently is Dabo at Clemson. The shit that used to work still does

How about both MSU and UM are very good programs with very good coaches, campus, facilities etc… and the Bobcats are doing a great job and beat us on a bunch of kids this year. Just like we beat them on some kids last year and especially two years ago. This year is an anomaly.

Also MSU football players are not graduating in engineering. There are about 10 guys who have been there for more than 2 years who are engineering majors. They might try to use it in recruiting, but these guys on the field are not engineers lol.
Strange because their engineering programs have traditionally been pretty easy. Tech typically would weed out 50-60% of our freshmen class during the first few years. Many would end up at MSU, graduate and have professional success. I personally knew a a few that flunked out at Tech and made the Deans List at MSU

That's a whole lotta BS. Spoken like someone that couldn't get through freshman calc and ended up with a business degree.

I think Bobby could do it with his style when he was here before because of recent a Championship (not his) and who were 39-6 the previous three years (and yes Glenn was a players coach, up until he bolted in a less than steller way) . Bobby came in soon after 15 straight against the Cats. So Bobby had a few years of very solid teams to work with starting out with returners he never recruited, thus keeping up the dominance including his appearances in the Natty.

This time around had to rebuild, the Cats are no longer a joke (better teams/facilities/etc). Vigen comes in after Choate ----who was very much a players coach and beat the Griz every time while winning the majority of recruiting battles thus having a very good roster and Vigen had very good success in his first two seasons which helped to get new kids that are there now on the roster (his starting center was literally a Griz once). Current FCS Teams #1-3 are all within the state or next door, and they get recruits too. Now the powers are next door neighbors and we compete. Look at the OL kid from Kalispell last year...verballed to NDSU and then when they changed coaches and he waivered, we still couldn't land him.... Choate did. And Choate is now a head coach anf trolling similar waters Back in Bobby1.1 when the SoCon was the power to match up against, well their recruits were NEVER coming here and we could own the state and area. .

Just not so sure Bobby style is going to be as effective now when UM is not the big dog in this side of the country/let alone state anymore getting the talent with his recruiting methods.....have to go to camp, transfers have to have some connection , players are on a gag order, the beat them down and build back up winter ball "Seal training style",. etc

Saban etc are my way or highway guys......BUT guys that play there were all but guaranteed to get drafted, and play for if not win the natty so more likely to put up with the crap. Similar to recruits in Bobby 1.0 The world /state/FCS/BSC are not the way there were and if you don't adapt......you go extinct.

Someday I hope you get a chance to talk to some parents or players that chose MSU over UM and ask what the difference was, it's interesting and very similar at least with the ones I have talked with. Until then then lets agree to disagree

You think Nick Saban wasn’t a dictator? You think he was player friendly? You are out of your mind. He recruited only his type of guys and didn’t allow anything to the contrary, no exceptions. Like all great coaches do.
Bobby don't have the resume to compare to Saban LOL

I don't know all the in and out of recruiting. My question is what about the prep schools, are we recruiting there? I did read somewhere that a quarterback for example is so well trained by the time he graduates high school he will be the starter at either a freshman or as a sophomore. If that were the case would that not be also true of any player ? I think are biggest holdup is we are not FBS. Players want pro careers are gonna go where they have the best chance. By not producing pro caliber players we will not recruit them. Kind of a catch 22.

I lost you after you said Choate was a “players coach” lol. One of my friends is the only guy ever to play for both Hauck (UNLV) and Choate. And he coached for Choate after. He said they are the same exact guy! Said Choate was even harder on his players than Bobby was! You have no clue. Having some fun players coach has never won anywhere. Ask Lincoln Riley how it’s going at USC. Sit down.

Lol Nope I got my undergrad degree in Geological Engineering from Tech. Out of 70+ freshmen. Only 24 of us made it. Tech has always been one of the top colleges in the country. Doesn’t matter if you believe it. It is a fact. Te h was brutal. There is a former Geology professor that is legendary among Petroleum Engineers because he loved flunking them. He gave maybe 3 A’s while I was there. Told me once could get a C in his class but would remember it 20 years later but wouldn’t remember my A classes. He was right

Many were weeded out but found success elsewhere. My own gf tried to get through Tech for 5 years. Transferred to MSU, got her degree there with mostly A’s. Lots did it then MSU was easy. In my day professors had to have phD to teach.
