The GRIZ Have a Long Way to Go

I, too, am watching the game. The difference between this level of play and what the Griz have shown capable of producing on their BEST DAY is quite obvious. Divine intervention would be required to close the gap.
I've seen an analogous gap when I visited the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, and looked north.
These NDSU and SDSU teams ARE GOOD!

Watched the Cats play today. They are legit NC contenders. We are only sniffing at it right now. Need to find a rhythm in the next two games fast.

You do realize they played Portland State? What a dumpster fire of a program they are. Very similar to most BSC schools. Until Bozo actually plays a quality opponent, I am not buying the hype. They deserve to be ranked high because they have taken care of business against their opponents. Not their fault the schedule is soft. Still, they have played no one of significance. I won’t even get started on what is wrong in Grizville. Something really stinks when you get to a natty and then have nothing in the tank for defense.

What is a quality opponent in the BSC this year? Cal Davis only beat Portland St by one point. Yes, Portland St looks bad but the whole conference is weak. The Cats have been beating teams on their schedule pretty easily. Most games the 2nd and 3rd string played quite a bit in the second half of games. I questioned how good they were based on the pre- conference schedule but now I think they are a very good team. Still a ways to go. Going to be interesting

I honestly couldn’t tell you. I haven’t seen any world beaters out there. UC Davis looked pretty solid today at EWU and I believe their ranking is warranted. Besides them and the Cats, nobody looks very good. I just don’t think MSU has a complete enough team to beat NDSU or SDSU. Could I be wrong? Certainly. I don’t think I am after watching those two teams play today. They seem to be a cut above everyone else. Not trying to knock on the Cats. We shall see. Their biggest obstacle could be injuries and that they haven’t played a close game all year. Again, kudos to them for taking care of business.

I agree Copper. So many question marks throughout the BSC. Then watching the Daks tonight go at it. Are any BSCteams close? Going to be a fun rest of the season. Yes, just have to continue taking care of business.

I agree UM offensive line is about 70% of the others and on the defensive line of Dakotas at about 10%, and 40% of MSU's. Factor in LB's / Secondary and it is JV vs Varsity
Please put your factors and variables on display to show where you got these numbers from. I believe you just pulled them out of someplace very stinky.

I didn't say anything about the offense, only the defense, which has generally been terrible this year so far.
So you’re saying that only one aspect of the team wins ball games? If you can out score an opponent say 52-49 or 55-48, does that not still count as a victory? Pretty sure it takes all three phases to make a team. Normally I’m on par with you but the mom is turning into a negative Nancy.

While watching easily the 2 best teams you’ll ever see in the FCS. Not putting the scats at their level. The dakotas should be insulted to have people say the scats are in their league.
I don’t think that is true. The Cats took SDSU to the last play of the game last year and NDSU to a missed extra point in the playoffs. The schedule for the Cats is what it is. They have been rising to the challenges presented with ease so far. Time will tell to see where it all goes.

Did you watch the NDSU/SDSU game? Either of them would beat the Griz by 30+ points. They are better than us in every facet of the game, including offense. We don't have a QB who comes close to Miller or Gronowski.

Call me negative all you want - I'm just being a realist. The Griz simply don't have what it takes this year, period. Keep dreaming if it makes you happy.

Then quit watching Montana play. Let the players determine whether or not they have what it takes.

Did anyone else watch this game and have the feeling that a game like that cannot be played in the BSC with the current officiating we have? There were so many plays that were just hard plays and the refs let them duke it out. We've seen a ridiculous amount of ticky-tac calls this year in a lot of games and way too much insertion of the refs into the games themselves in our conference.

Great physical battle/heavyweight fight and 2 great defenses. Don't know that SDSU is anywhere near the level that they were last year offensively. Watching this game, made me miss the physicality we've had on defense the last several years. We need someone other than Riley to step up and play with some hard-hitting attitude.

Remember when Bobby Hauck came back in 2017 and the media and everyone said the Big Sky is WAY better than it was in 2003-2009? Bobby said it is not better at all, only difference is Montana isn’t dominating everyone anymore so people think it’s “deeper and better.” Its not. He was right. Quality of player and teams is actually worse now. He would agree

So we’re now saying last years teams matter? Since we beat you last year, I guess we got this cat in the bag then.
