Playoff predictions

Bobcats are hands down best team in Big sky, that being said teams that could challenge them Sac St has nothing to lose and could pose trouble for the cats,
Davis could also be a tough game for them.
For our Griz who knows? Could go undefeated or lose every game.

Injuries are creeping in on the Cats, can their next men up succeed? We shall see.

I unfortunately think the only way the cats aren't undefeated going into the brawl is if Tommy gets hurt and misses time.

Also, Weber can technically still win the autobid if we both win out.

Especially when you look at what's coming up. Portland State has always played the cats tough, but they should be ok in that one. They've always struggled at Eastern and they claim their secondary is their weakness, and then at Davis the week before the Brawl will be a tough game. They're gonna start getting tested in the coming weeks.
And yet the most injured the Cats have been all year (especially on defense) was in the Idaho game. So, season\career ending to three defensive starters\leaders, going up against the best team we've played all year, the Cats dominated them and Idaho didn't actually score any points, even against 2nd stringers. The ID "touchdown" wasn't actually a touchdown but I think the refs just let them have it anyway, and it was against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

All that said, now the biggest challenge moving forward is, can the Cats stay relatively healthy from here?

if history repeats itself probably not....that said I hate seeing any college player get hurt and hope every player on every team stays healthy.

The cats went though arguably the easiest part of their schedule, excluding Idaho who is a mere shadow of itself, with multiple injuries does not bode well for the rest of the year.
Will it be a year of injuries with the toughest part of the season upcoming?

Well to be fair to Idaho, their entire QB room is injured. All 3 of them have shoulder injuries. If they had Jack Layne available like you guys had Tommy available, that would've been a hell of a game. I feel bad for them. If they don't get one of their QB's back healthy in a hurry, they may squander their season away

They are fortunate that they have Cal Poly then EWU at home followed by PSU on the road. Layne will likely be back at some point in that stretch if he is able to rehab in the 8-10 week timeframe stated at the time of his injury. I see some wildcat in their future.

I would never feel bad for the vandals. Maybe the kids individually, but there is no goodwill between Missoula and Moscow.

Which will raise their SOS from 132 out of 133 teams to a solid 129th.

We shouldn't be talking playoffs, the only thing we should be focused on is improving on defense, getting healthy and UNC

Yup, lowly NCU bested a team that exposed Griz at our home! No gimmies at least for now.
I have hope for the same wake up as last year…..

Layne has played exactly 1 game, saying that he would be their savior is putting a lot of stock in that one game.

It was against Oregon, and he looked pretty good lol, it's not like it was against New Mexico.

He put up better numbers against them than the Boise State, UCLA, or Michigan State QBs did.

Not saying they win the game in Bozeman, but I think you're being a little too dismissive. Their replacement QBs looked terrible all night against you, even with guys open downfield.

True, but I was actually surprised at how much the Cats dominated their lines, especially Cat OL vs ID DL, which was supposed to be one of the best DLs in the country. And defensively in general, the Cats just bashed them over and over rushing and passing. What, 370 pards rushing again? Oregon had around 100. That game was 24-14. The game in Bozo was a domination blow out.

I do wonder from time to time when you see an unexpected result like that in Football where the game is so lopsided and the other team runs out of QB's, how does that affect the team mentally? A prime example of that would be the NFC Championship a couple years ago when Brock Purdy got that elbow injury and the 49ers had no QB's available. How does that affect the Niners Defense? They're out there busting their butts off trying to stay in the game and they got an offense that quite literally cannot do anything because hey have no QB's? I just think when a team finds themselves in a situation like that it's hard for the rest of the team to stay locked in and focused.

Honestly, this whole talk of MSU being 7-0 reminds me a lot of when the Griz started 5-0 a few years back, and then the train just derailed. Think we lost 2 or 3 games the rest of the year.

The Griz started 5-0 thanks to a weaker opening schedule and then got punched in the mouth in the 2nd half of the season. Bobcats benefited from a weak opening schedule to go 6-0. We'll see if they can maintain it in the second half.
