It happenin

So there is more coming out that UNLV, Airforce, SJSU are going to commit to the MWC. Would the PAC go for WYO and NMSU?
Or…… If they are getting spurned, would the PAC truly consider UM,MSU, NDSU, SDSU or even SAC? Or the other two Dakotas? Have a super high end group with the first 6. It would probably cost less to get FCS teams even if you paid for them to move up. Offset coaches salaries etc etc.
The FCS mentioned might just be one hot commodity by both PAC and MWC to infill with!
I know crazy but this is all crazy!

CAL and in particular Standford don't want to be associated with the State California schools (Fresno, SDSU) their snobbiness is what helped destroy the PAC by limiting and refusing certain expansion options.

CAL may have 0 choice to return eventually (they will drag their feet) but Stanford and with how much $$ their Donors have will never come back most likely.
Look at some of the weak schools in the ACC. Stanford’s donors don’t donate big to sports.

I am a Stanford grad. I have never given a penny to sports, but am not even close to being a big donor.

I think the PAC turns over every stone looking for a current FBS school to get 8 members. If they have to settle for a FCS school, as crazy as it is, I would guess Sac is the front runner.

According to the MWC, CNSBBS and West Coast Sports Forums and reporters on X:

-USU is going to the PAC
-Nevada hasn't Signed/signaled either way
-SJSU is rumored to stay in the MWC
-UNM hasn't been mentioned at all
-Everyone else has signed a Commitment to stay in the MWC

-NMSU and UTEP along with Sac have supposedly reached out to the MWC already

Also some talk they may approach Texas State after striking out with the AAC schools.

What affinity does Southern Methodist have with the ACC?
They wanted into a P4 Conference and were willing to forgoe or took a massive pay cut, I think 7 years of TV revenue to get in. Their Donor base is covering all Football expenses until then, ESPN did an article on it

Thanks, but I still have the same question.
They didn't care about affinity, they just wanted to be in a Power Conference and were willing to throw as much $$ at the problem to make it happen. Just so happens the ACC saw a chance to get the ACC Network into Texas for cheap and took it.

*EDIT* Also forgot to mention that the ACC have a contract clause with ESPN if they go below 15 teams the TV contract is immediately up for renegotiation. By adding Calford and SMU it ensures if FSU and Clemson win and leave that they won't lose their current contract.

Then I guess you are saying they have no real affinity to ACC.

I see UCLA said at one point that their travel expenses would go from $8 million to $24 million.

What’s the ACC early leave penalty?

Their GOR is locked in until 2036 and I think it's 100 million plus? It's insanely high, I'll try to find the correct figure.

From an older NY Times article: “For a period, the Pac-12 looked like the destination. SMU and San Diego State knew they would be the likely additions to the league once the conference closed its television deal. Commissioner George Kliavkoff was spotted at SMU by The Athletic during a February 2023 basketball game.”

Indicates PAC-12 was okay with San Diego St.
My information comes from Fresno, SDSU and SJSU fans who are much more familiar with how the California education system works. Missed that SDSU did get an offer, looks like Washington and Oregon bolting killed it
