From your barber's sister's boyfriend's cousin that heard it from his buddy's brother's dad?I'm hearing we are a lock for the Mountain West. It's time boys.

Those communities are invested in those programs. Anyways, care to clarify how you predict SJSU and UNLV will be the MWC's backfill choices, as you stated?
Sounds good to me!Yep. Arizona State is playing in San Marcos TX this weekend…playing TX State, a team we rolled several years ago but made the move up. THAT’S the kind of OOC you could get instead of Morehead St. Boise State, Utah, WSU, etc., etc.
Given that they still have 8 teams, they don't HAVE to add any at all I suppose...They can get pretty picky. So here's the next question I have. How quickly does the Mountain West move to add teams? Because technically speaking they have some time. Yes, things move fast in the conference re-alignment world but maybe the Mountain West pumps the breaks a little bit and waits until after the Football season and see if we get more answers on the future D1 structure with revenue sharing and what all that looks like from the house settlement? I just don't think they have to necessarily rush into adding 4 new teams by next month or anything. They could theoretically take their time.
From and FCS standpoint, of course. For what it’s worth, here’s an interesting take from Sam Herder: https://herosports.com/fcs-pac-12-rebuild-domino-effect-bzbz/
Even so, I think if I was the UM AD, I would be on the phone with the MWC commish right now, armed with numbers for consideration.Given that they still have 8 teams, they don't HAVE to add any at all I suppose...They can get pretty picky.
This move only leaves 7 basketball schools, which would be the biggest need.Given that they still have 8 teams, they don't HAVE to add any at all I suppose...They can get pretty picky.
I would be shocked if they hadn't already had those conversations...MWC HAD to know this was a definite possibility in some form or fashion.Even so, I think if I was the UM AD, I would be on the phone with the MWC commish right now, armed with numbers for consideration.
It's pretty much a certainty that they already have.I would be shocked if they hadn't already had those conversations...MWC HAD to know this was a definite possibility in some form or fashion.
You can be sure that Haslam, Costello, and both Presidents are going to have sore ears today from being on the phone. Good luck to both Montana schools.Even so, I think if I was the UM AD, I would be on the phone with the MWC commish right now, armed with numbers for consideration.
I certainly hope so.It's pretty much a certainty that they already have.
Yeah man I didn’t make the decision. Im stating something factual about the media market Wyoming is placed in for whatever reason.Laramie is still 2 1/2 hours from metro Denver. The biggest draw to that media market just walked out the door to the PAC-2+. Air Force and Wyoming cannot draw as much out of that market as UC and CSU. Laramie has what, 30,000 probably more when school is in session? Wyoming is barely over half a million. Missoula and Bozeman together is 130,000 alone and over a million in the state. Denver’s population is 700,000 and maybe twice that in the northern Colorado region.
And there may be pros and cons to moving up but go check out the recruiting losses we have. Only ~ 10 of the guys we took shots at did we lose to other FCS schools, but we did lose a lot to some really crappy FBS programs that we wouldn’t have lost to if we were FBS.
Also, it would be a hell of a lot easier to find home and home series and home games in general if we were FBS.
Wouldn’t be a move up thread without it.Gettin' a wee bit testy in here
They care deeply about the programs and their rivalry. It's the only real sports the communities have. Unfortunately the programs themselves have been horrible at hiring and consistently blown opportunities to grow said enthusiasm. As for the Pac-6... I think that they might go one of two different ways. One would be what you suggest - UNLV for sure, and maybe SJSU after that. OR, I could see them trying something much different - enticing 6 eastern schools, maybe from the AAC (Memphis, Tulane, etc.) and splitting into a western and eastern division. Basically taking the best of the current G5 and dividing them into two regional divisions to ease travel burdens.Define "invested". And I was talking about the next two to the Pac-6.
We’re going to get left behind aren’t we.Not to Shaun; to the message.
Question to anyone in the know: If a program is ALLOWED to offer x number of scholarships, does it mean it MUST offer that number of scholarships?
