“Only in Butte!”Can we then make them try to return kicks against the elephants?

The reason I brought it up was because we do not develop the quarterbacks like AH YAT by playing him in FCS non conference games because we must win so they do not play him.In the long run playing him or others in the FCS non conference is where it's at but we must WIN.Huot looked great in the spring. Humphrey followed Sneed very effectively. Lots of people seem to think Ah Yat looks great. Those are the only guys it could really apply to. Seems fine.
Do you have examples of ANYONE at our level and above doing your plan with good results?
The cats are on FS1.Sure we got a lot more exposure playing the Huskies on National TV but what national TV are we on playing Missouri St.?Exposure? Very few people in NM care about the Lobos. I lived there for 17 years and never watched their games. The Griz got far more exposure playing UW. The Griz got plenty of exposure in last year's playoff games.
It just doesn't matter that much. The cats are on FS1.Sure we got a lot more exposure playing the Huskies on National TV but what national TV are we on playing Missouri St.?
What I am hearing, though, is that no significant teams do what you are suggesting? The reason I brought it up was because we do not develop the quarterbacks like AH YAT by playing him in FCS non conference games because we must win so they do not play him.In the long run playing him or others in the FCS non conference is where it's at but we must WIN.
I’m guessing they took it cus it’s an FBS game they should win, which would bring them a decent amount of week 1 exposure. After that though no one will remember cus let’s face it, it’s New Mexico. The part I’ll dread more then anything is all the scat trolls that will flood eGriz to brag about their FBS “upset”.Jeez, $360,000 is a terrible payday. I wonder why the Cats even took that - you would think that they bring in almost as much money for home games as the Griz.
Wait, so now we should schedule FBS games to get exposure AND play an NAIA opponent? The cats are on FS1.Sure we got a lot more exposure playing the Huskies on National TV but what national TV are we on playing Missouri St.?
None more than normal. What exposure would we get playing an NAIA team? The cats are on FS1.Sure we got a lot more exposure playing the Huskies on National TV but what national TV are we on playing Missouri St.?
It’s actually 3 levels. D2, then D3, then NAIA. Although the NAIA talent level might be comparable to D3.The scheduling an easy game TWO levels below your competition in order to get an easy start for a young QB that is a backup?
Yea, I was kind of erring on giving the NAIA that credit. I don't know that I think our NAIA is better or worse than D3, but a HUGE step down from good D2 teams. Ferris' line would hurt Western kids. It’s actually 3 levels. D2, then D3, then NAIA. Although the NAIA talent level might be comparable to D3.
I think it's a game they CAN win, not so sure about the SHOULD part.I’m guessing they took it cus it’s an FBS game they should win, which would bring them a decent amount of week 1 exposure. I know if it were the Griz playing them, I would consider it a game we should winI think it's a game they CAN win, not so sure about the SHOULD part.
A 3 pm kickoff in August in Albuquerque at 6000' elevation might have an effect. UNM might not be a very good team but they still have more scholarships.
I am guessing reading and comprehending is not in your resume.Wait, so now we should schedule FBS games to get exposure AND play an NAIA opponent?
No and they have lost because of it.What I am hearing, though, is that no significant teams do what you are suggesting?
When have successful Griz teams of the past done what you are suggesting?
No. You won't answer my question at all. What teams do it that way?Am I getting to the point for you all ?
Gotcha. So, if I am understanding you right, you think that we should enact your plan rather than what every coach of every successful team does? I'm sorry. That just doesn't make sense to me. We would be sacrificing the development and readiness of the entire rest of the team, including the starting QB. I don't see the positive balance, but hey, you have every right to your opinion. No and they have lost because of it.
What is my plan? Did I make clear enough or do you need futher explanation?Gotcha.
