The reason I brought it up was because we do not develop the quarterbacks like AH YAT by playing him in FCS non conference games because we must win so they do not play him.In the long run playing him or others in the FCS non conference is where it's at but we must WIN.

Of course I think that playing teams like Carrol is just stupid.Really my point was to draw attention to the fact we are not playing our young quarterbacks to get them to the point where they are ready when needed.

The cats are on FS1.Sure we got a lot more exposure playing the Huskies on National TV but what national TV are we on playing Missouri St.?
It just doesn't matter that much.
What I am hearing, though, is that no significant teams do what you are suggesting?
When have successful Griz teams of the past done what you are suggesting?

I’m guessing they took it cus it’s an FBS game they should win, which would bring them a decent amount of week 1 exposure. After that though no one will remember cus let’s face it, it’s New Mexico. The part I’ll dread more then anything is all the scat trolls that will flood eGriz to brag about their FBS “upset”.

None more than normal. What exposure would we get playing an NAIA team?
Brother, not trying to be rude to you, but you are kind of talking in circles on this subject. We should play naia teams, but we also should be going for exposure, we had success with clif last year and we have to win now, but should be scheduling games for freshmen to play.
It feels like you are a bit too committed to a thought and feeling you have here without being able to explain it.

It’s actually 3 levels. D2, then D3, then NAIA. Although the NAIA talent level might be comparable to D3.
Yea, I was kind of erring on giving the NAIA that credit. I don't know that I think our NAIA is better or worse than D3, but a HUGE step down from good D2 teams. Ferris' line would hurt Western kids.
I think it's a game they CAN win, not so sure about the SHOULD part.
A 3 pm kickoff in August in Albuquerque at 6000' elevation might have an effect. UNM might not be a very good team but they still have more scholarships.

So this season if Fife goes down say in game one who is gonna step up and take the reins? An experienced quarterback? Maybe we can bring back Cliff?

If Fife goes down, we go to the backup that we developed every day in practice against our own top tier defense.

Gotcha. So, if I am understanding you right, you think that we should enact your plan rather than what every coach of every successful team does? I'm sorry. That just doesn't make sense to me. We would be sacrificing the development and readiness of the entire rest of the team, including the starting QB. I don't see the positive balance, but hey, you have every right to your opinion.
