Why???

Just look at what all those championships got the NDSU fanbase. They all got bored and stopped going to games. There is an unmistakable thrill in the struggle of competitive sports. The pains of 2022 made last season feel so sweet. Losing 4 straight to the cats (which I never want to see again in my life) made 2021 so joyous. When the Griz finally win that elusive next championship, it's going to be monumentally more satisfying having gone through all these years of heartbreak.

Don't get me wrong, there are very few things I want in my life more than to see the Griz win a championship, and I always want them to win it every single season, but if that's all I cared about, I'd probably be just as bitter and shitty all the time as our resident stooge, and that's not how I want to go through life. The man will not be able to enjoy it when it happens, and that is truly sad.
I'll relish it if it happens, just like you

Except as you pointed out he’s done it 4 times for the griz

And as they say, the dog would’ve caught the rabbit if he didn’t stop to shit. The season is done and in the books. There’s no what if’s anymore.
So, are we now dominant, based on last season?

Big assumption that he will continue to lead us to the NC game. It was ONE SEASON, and it could have ended twice with an OT loss in the home playoff games. If we had lost to Furman or NDSU, which could have easily happened, would the narrative be different? Was it an aberration, or a prediction of"dominance"? You tell me.
Jesus. You asked "Serious question for all posters:

Is just getting to the National Championship game enough success for you, or is actually winning a NC game a requirement for your continued support of our head coach? Anyone want to chime-in?"

The "assumption" that he keeps getting to the NC and losing was inherent in your question.

Par for the course. He asks the question and then when people answer in good faith, he makes a completely different assertion than what he originally asked.

Maybe somebody should go poll SDSU fans about whether they think Coach Stig was a successful coach or not. It took him 23 years to get the Jacks to a title game, which they lost to NDSU. They came back and won it two years later, after which Stig retired. He made it to two national championships and won only one in his 25 year career in Brookings. According to third, Stig should have been fired years and years before that when his teams were losing in the playoffs for 8 years straight and never even sniffing a a natty. Or maybe that's okay but getting to the natty and losing is the fireable offense? I'm not actually sure because his position is so inconsistent. The point is that there are 120+ coaches in the FCS, the vast majority of whom would give their eye teeth to have had the success that Bobby has had.

Winning national championships is not easy. Obviously NDSU did something completely incredible and out of the ordinary for a long time. Kudos to them. They had some very good coaches and really amazing success. Success breeds success though. Once you start rolling it's easier to keep going than it is to turn around a sinking ship. They were also able to promote from within whenever one coach left and keep the exact same system going forward.

Would the Griz have landed all the excellent transfers they did this year if they hadn't made it to the natty last year?? It's hard to prove either way but when they mention the success as one of their reasons for choosing UM that says a lot.

So my long answer to a short question is that I would much prefer to lose in the national championship every year than fire coaches and have to start over all the time, because that's never a winning formula.

Good post, except being unable to win the chipper is unacceptable to me. I had forgotten about Stig, but you are on the money there. Kinda of an exception though.

Yeah, imagine if the Furman game had a volcano erupting in the NEZ and aliens landed on the M and they started shooting spray farts at our players and then Bobby pulled off a mask Scooby Doo style to reveal he was actually Gwen Stefani and then she started singing Hollaback Girl instead of coaching! We might have lost that game if that happened.

Prevailing in the OT games was skill, desire, heart and coaching, not luck. You weren’t even at those games. You clearly never played the game and don’t know football.

Do we start the "Montana..... Grizzlies" chant when the aliens land or when Bobby Stafani twerks?

I thought he said he put mom on Ignore.
That didn't surprise me. I was surprised that he seems to agree with me? Except for the part about why he actually hates Bobby and his reasoning is incomprehensible there.

He won't do that. If he actually put people on ignore, he wouldn't be able to come here for his daily two minutes of hate.

Very apropos "1984" reference.

99% of posters know where the line is...and you, you dumb motherfucker, you just crossed it. I'd offer to meet you at the Mo Club to beat some sense into you but you'd run out the back like you've done before. I know your type. Classless fucking POS talking about someone's dead father. If someday, someone you've never met walks up to you and knocks your front teeth out without first introducing themselves, know that it was me.
I apologize to you for making a comment which you apparently though was denigrating your father. It was not meant to denigrate your father in any way. It was an old come-back used 40 years ago by a comedian to a heckler. But again, if you misconstrued the intent, and believed it was directed at your father, I apologize for that.
