Why transfers chose Montana

Everyone can have their opinions on who is a better QB, fine, totally. But what is being lost here is that the portal and transferring is going to be a constant. The amount of kids entering the portal and leaving for new schools has grown every year. The trend is clear, and as others have pointed out there are top schools in the hunt in the portal for even QBs.

What is great, is if you look at this, there are multiple reasons that kids are choosing us and this is probably the best portal class we have added. Cooper said he believes that this is an incredibly rare year where we hit on every kid we brought on board in terms of culture fit and on-field start. The reasons they listed in just his article for coming --
Stable Coaching (Not Changing Coaches Recently, Bobby Staying)
Environment
Fan Support
Facilities
Current Players Vouching for The Program
The 3-3-5 Defense
Winning Program
Wanting Into Program We Have
Wanting Into the Brotherhood That Has Been Built Here.

Transfers who committed before camp are S Kade Cutler (Montana State), QB Logan Fife (Fresno State), DB Chrishawn Gordon (Fresno State), DT Patrick Hayden (Monmouth), OL Everett Johnson (Cal), LB Vai Kaho (San Diego State), DB Kenzel Lawler (Utah), DE Andres Lehrmann (Youngstown State), K/P Ty Morrison (College of the Canyons), RB Stevie Rocker Jr. (Arizona) and K Johan Silver (Kent State).

Four transfers who UM offered after spring camp have committed elsewhere: CB Chris Jackson (San Diego Mesa to Colorado State), LB Malik Johnson (College of San Mateo to New Mexico State), DL Dylan LaBarbera (Butte College to Nevada) and DL Christian Lorenzo (Illinois to Georgia State).

Of the 15 guys we have offered, landed 11 and lost 4.

The Montana Grizzlies are on the right track in using the portal to land more kids than we lose. This is the modern era, and I am honestly kind of surprised at just how well out staff has adapted to it. I figured with Bobby's reticence and frustration about the transfer portal, we wouldn't be nearly this active. We are on the right trajectory if you chart it from 2018 to now, and I'm excited for the future.
I absolutely agree 100%. But none of that matters to third, because "Bobby sucks". It would be one thing if he were as complimentary as he is critical, but all he is is a critic trying to disguise himself as a fan.

Lance hasn’t even gotten on field. The worst so far. Terrible draft screw up.
He hasnt gotten on the field yet? .. haha. He started 4 games in his career so far, two games as a rookie and two games in season 2.

why lie about it unless you just don' know in that case just don't say anything..

Has not gotten on field with current team Dallas. In prior year of 2 starts with SF, threw for 193 yards, no TD’s and 1 pick. Total. That’s pathetic. I see he’s done better at OTA’s this year.

Quite honestly there is no bonus for recruiting QBs from high school over recruiting them from the portal. If you recruit a high school QB and he turns out pretty darn good, he is leaving 9 times out of 10 with the current system. Bottom line, where you get a QB doesn't matter.
Yup. You recruit to have a good qb, and hopefully a good backup. By any means of recruiting.

In his rookie year with the 49ers, in limited duty he threw for 5 touchdowns and 2 interception is that pathetic too, why not bring that season up?..

Don't even bother, we all know the answer...lol.

Lance is a total bust, just like Wentz. He was a late-round gamble, at best. I think the NFL has learned its lesson on spending high draft picks on UNDSU QBs.

No, no, no. This proves you don't know football because Bobby and Bobby Bobbied and then Bobby did a Bobby at Bobby when he should have just Bobbied. Therefore, I know more than you.

If Third wants to just copy/paste the above to save time in the future, he has my permission.

Come on now. He threw 5 TD's one year.

And to get beat out by Mr. Irrelevant...woof.
It's almost like NFL GMs shouldn't spend picks on QBs who are always hurt and spent their college careers handing off.

It's a bit like spending a scholarship on a freshman project QB who spent his HS career just sending it on fly patterns over slow secondaries. It's wild to me that some people require immediate results, but also require multi-year starting QBs out of HS.

Wentz does not deserve the slander of being compared to Lance. He was a starter for 6 years and has thrown for 20,000+ yards & 150+ TDs. Underwhelming as a 2nd overall pick? Sure, but their pro careers are not similar.

With the new era of the transfer portal, I assume Lance will be the last FCS QB to be drafted in the 1st round.

Good points. I take it back. Carson, if you're reading this, you were semi-serviceable when available.

That was almost 3 years ago. Why has he thrown for 193 yards and no TD’s since then? Answer the question. I don’t want to hear that SDSU used to win championships. Where is Lance now?

Who's this "we" you keep talking about? You're an admitted 'Scat fan...
We.... the non-Kool-Aid drinking portion of Griz Nation, at about 75% of the base. And, you are a confirmed liar........I am NOT a Cat fan. That is something that you and your ilk allege because I am capable of saying positive things about them when warranted. It's called MATURITY. You might wanna develop some. I am an objective Griz fan.

You are correct.... but consider the source? These pin headed soccer fans couldn't give a positive comment about a Griz foe if their panties depended on it. How rich is it slamming NDSU when they have had two QBs drafted in the first round, and another currently an NFL back-up......... and all three were recruited as high school freshmen

I highly doubt "the brined one" speaks for 75% of the base. Also, the "maturity" claim along with the "objective" proclamation had me fall of my chair gasping for air I was laughing so hard.

😂😂😂😂😂 You couldn't even get 75% of the people in the looney bin to agree with you if you gave them free uppers. "Objective". 😂😂😂😂😂

I could not agree more. Great post. I have never understood the Wentz bashing on this site. While a majority of the college football world look down their noses at the FCS level, any success a player has should be lauded, if not respected. It's just good for this level of football. I feel the exact same way about Troy Andersen. I hope he has a great career.

His career may not have turned out exactly as hoped for a 2nd pick, but he had a decent career overall and at one point was a leading MVP candidate. Injuries took things in another direction. He is far from a "bust"

Why has he thrown for 190 yards and no touchdowns since then? >.

The answer is simple, he fractured his ankle in the first half of the second game of the year his second season that knocked him out for the rest of the year he subsequently had an setback going into his third Season due to a serious infection and had two more clean up surgeries to take care of the infection that set him back going into his third season and left him sitting behind Brock Purdy and Sam darnold...

This last year he got traded to the cowboys late into training camp, and used last season as basically a red-shirt year learning a whole new system.

To answer your other question where is lance now?>

He's living the life being on a nfl roster while collecting an handsome paycheck doing it,
Lance signed a 4 year $34,105,275 contract with the 49ers including a $22,163,836. Signing bonus, $34,105,275 guaranteed, money, his average annual salary is $8,526,319... that's where...pretty nice chunk of money wouldn't you say?

Now answer this, how many 1st round quarterbacks has coach Bobby had in the n.f.l. draft since he's been at montana?
