Looks like he redshirted at BYU and will be a Freshman in 2008.

I think this would be a good get for Montana at WR or RB. Plus he is a good return man. I hope he likes Montana.

RYAN KESSMAN, formerly listed on the BYU roster as a 6-0, 205 pound freshman receiver, is back on the recruiting market. After signing with BYU this past February and spending part of the fall in Provo, Kessman asked for and was granted a release from the football program. Among the possible destinations, Idaho is one of the schools showing interest and, says Kessman's father, it's mutual.

PROVO, Utah (September 28, 2007) -- BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced freshman receiver Ryan Kessman has announced his intentions to transfer.
"Ryan has expressed his desire to leave BYU," Mendenhall said. "We have granted his release and wish him well."

Kessman is a true freshman from San Jacinto, Calif.

BYU fans are very upset Kessman left. He was their top recruit for 2007. They still rank on Ben Olsen since he left BYU and went to UCLA. They just can't move on.

This has some inference, but I don't subscribe:

Sounds like he stayed out late and got in trouble for it. They came down hard on him and pissed him off. Sounds like he couldn't adjust to the strict Mormon rules. It sounds like he also got caught drinking a cappuccino coffee. Oh my God! He's goin' to hell!

Ryan and 5 other players went into Salt Lake city to a non drinking and non smoking club 18 and up. The car broke down and they didn't get back to the dorms until very late. They also were late to weight lifting the next morning. all 6 players were punished by running until Bronco got tired. One player even cracked a bone in his hip from how hard they had to work out and run. All 6 players were suspended from the team until they completed 20 hours of community service which was great. They ALL deserved it. Ryan agreed with those terms. The next day Ryan was at a Star Bucks with his GF in Provo. Ryan ordered a vanilla Cappiccino for his GF. Ryan asked for a drink and he took a drink of it. The people in the car in back of Ryan saw Ryan take a drink and sent an e-mail to Bronco Mendenhall. The person in the car in back of Ryan asked the server at StarBucks what Ryan ordered and she told him a vanilla cappiccino. The next day Ryan was asked by the HC if he had violated any of the rules of the Honor Code and at the bottom of the list in the honor code was the drinking of coffee. Bronco reminded Ryan if he lied that he would lose his scholarship. Ryan told the truth saying he drank some coffee but he didn't think it was such a big deal because he was jewish and not mormon. Bronco reminded Ryan that it was a violation of the HC. That's when Ryan asked for his release from his scholarship.

WOW, what great videos. This kid is unreal, great vision, great cuts, strong, versatile. How fast is he?

The GRIZ need to do whatever it takes to get this kid. I hope we make a great impression. Why would he even look to drop down being he is young. Did he already Redshirt at BYU?

This kid could do wonders for our offense at any position. If RP could not figure out how to use this kid, then he should be let go once and for all. :thumb:

I am sure GRIZ fans will buy him all the coffee he wants. :thumb:

I would have left too. That is way too extreme. I have no idea how BYU even gets the players it does if it is that bad.

Tell Ryan there's lot's of Cappuccino coffee bars here and he can drink all he wants!

For once I agree with 'ronbo.' "Shalom aleichem."

I think he is Class of 2007 from hs so could have been a redshirt last season. Four years of eligibility if to an FCS, right?....with no sitting out. Could play right away instead of sitting out a year if to another FBS (Idaho).

That's like, in flying into Missoula for a visit and checking out a possible transfer to UM, right? Maybe petition the Athletic Dept. to get a red carpet or something.

Both scout and rivals had him ranked in TOP 70 wrs' nationwide his sr year. 3 star ranking. 4.6 40. To me looked faster than 4.6, or maybe it was his cutting and quickness. I hope we land him.

:wtf: I would have to think in a recruiting contest between the doormat of the FBS or one of the elite programs in the FCS, the FCS would prevail every time. He won't be getting away from BYU by going to Idaho, if you know what I mean.

For any NCAA-types reading this, here on egriz the thumb emoticon indicates metaphorically, or imaginary.
So he meant we will by him hypothetical or metaphorical coffee.

Hope that clears that up.

Here at egriz we have great respect for NCAA rules. :thumb:

Wow. I really hope whoever gives him his tour does everything they can to get him to come. He would make a big impact on next years team. His highlights are very impressive.

Please keep the discussion in this thread to the possible transfer student and not about Mormons or policital issues around SLC/BYU or the Mormon faith.

If you would like to discuss the political/religious aspects around the Mormon faith you can in this thread on egrizolotics: http://www.egriz.com/GrizBoard/topic30018.php
