Maybe he feels the pressure to outcompete the DC he replaced or try to show next level teams he can run a complicated defense despite the fact the situation probably doesnt require it and instead he could pick simpler schemes focus on fundamentals and be far more successful. I dont know as I am not knowledgeable enough to be a DC an OC or a head coach. Just a thought.

All I would offer about the first half defensive performance, is they should count their lucky stars that EWU's QB was overthrowing his receivers before half time, because they were several steps behind our secondary the whole time. Could have been pretty ugly if he'd been connecting with them... And by behind, I mean outrunning them and wide open...
