2017 Basketball Recruiting

Taking care of a bad back is more important than hoops. Thanks - I couldn't understand why Henny didn't play at all this year - she appeared to be healthy and she generally suited up.

I assume that the same is true of Nora Klick from Simms/Great Falls. Those back problems are so frustrating to deal with. Wish them both the best.

Yes, Nora has had back issues since high school. In her post-season wrap-up in the Missoulian, Shannon stated that she had 2 scholarships available. I wonder who's scholarships that might be.......?

Can anyone explain how Henny Hearn could be the POY in a larger school classification in Idaho, have a redshirt year here, and then not play a minute that I saw during her freshman year? Was she hurt? Academics? Illness?

Bad back?

Really. POY (2015) out of the same Idaho Division that Gabby Harrington came out of, 5A POY her senior year (2016). By the way, Madison Schoening was the 5A/4A POY (2016), out of Idaho last year. Hearn scored 24 points in the 5A Idaho State Tournament Championship game her senior year. Harrington scored 33 in the State 5A Championship game a year later. Against Hearn's old team.

A lot of good stuff on the web about this kid. Looks like he will be rising up the ranks. Let's get him early!

Love that we're after him, but pretty sure this kid will be going nearly anywhere he wants by end of his senior year.

Tim Falls is one of many reasons I'm so excited about next year. While I haven't seen him play, the one aspect of his game that I like is his apparent quickness. John Wooden always said, Quickness beats height. You don't get five steals in multiple games unless you're quick.

He's cat quick with long arms and solid instincts. A nice combination

Also a consummate team player. Though he has excellent one-on-one skills, he's always aware of the floor and where his teammates are. Watched the Northern Cal All-Star game (can't remember the precise name) and he was the guy getting the ball to his open all-star teammates. This is an early impression, but he reminds me a bit of Marc Glass.

But is he best in space? I kid, I kid. I am also excited to see him. Great to see the post season awards to those coming to the team. I'm sure he had other offers and really am glad that he will be a Griz.

Top west coast point guard Tarus Samuels (class of 2018) from Vista, CA will take an official visit to Missoula next week.

6/13/2017 - 2020 SG Xavier Dusell (6-4, -, 2★) has received an offer from Montana.
according to Verbal commits. Got a great stroke. Crazy to see kids graduating in 2020 ... dam I'm getting old.

The Griz just lost out on a major recruitment target for 2018 as Taurus Samuels (see above) just committed to Dartmouth (ranked #305 by Kenpom at the end of last year). Seems obvious this was an academic decision by the young man.

7/9/2017 - 2019 SG Joseph Octave (6-4, 180, 2.5★) Gardena, CA Mary Star of the Sea High School, has received an offer from Montana. Also, has an offer from San Jose State. He has a bunch of other schools our size interested.

I also heard the Griz have extended an offer to the big kid from Skyview. I can't remember his name at the moment. He's about6'10' now and heading out on the circuit with Idaho Select.
