Hard to put actual numbers on how many recruits in state we would gain, but it would give us a better shot. I wonder if Matt Miller stayed if we played at a higher level?

Apparently the level of competition wasn't a big deal since he, for some reason, turned down Stanford to go play on the smurf. Arkansas too.

You'd have to be a moron not to want to wear one of those Razorback hats.

Oh its nice to see some Hawaians on the new list...

When most players are just wrapping up their summer camping circuits and unofficial visits, Renton (Wash.) Lindbergh ATH Diondre Toms has a busy July planned. He's already camped at Washington State and Idaho this summer, as well as taking home DB MVP honors at the Nike 2010 Northwest Elite Football Camp. But Toms is going the extra mile.

He's going to visit four schools, and a fifth may also end up on the docket. It's all in the hopes that he can add some more scholarships to his total.

"In the beginning of July I'm going to Portland State, then in the middle I'm going to Washington State and Idaho, then at the end I'm going to Montana," Toms told Scout.com on Wednesday.

Toms is also thinking about visiting Boise State, where the Broncos have picked up interest in the 6-0.5, 166-pound athlete.

Portland State and Montana continue to be Toms' two standing offers, but he's hoping his planned tour will result in more. "Washington State and Idaho are going to offer pretty soon," he said. "That's why I'm going to their schools."

All the schools Toms will visit are recruiting him as an athlete, with the exception of Portland State, who likes him as a defensive back. Does he have a favorite?

"I like all of those schools," he said. "I don't have a favorite. To me they are all good schools."

But Toms added he did have a favorite team growing up - Washington. "I really like them," he said. "My cousin Johri Fogerson goes there."

Toms said that he last spoke with the UW coaches a month ago and camped at UW last summer. "They are recruiting me as a DB and athlete," he said. "I have a good relationship with coach Jeff Mills. They are waiting for me to gain more weight."

Toms added that the UW coaches would like to see him closer to 175-180 pounds, and Toms doesn't think that will be a problem as both of his brothers are bigger than he is.

We'll be in touch with Toms after he finishes his whirlwind tour.

Players pick WAC schools over Pac-10 schools on a regular basis.

Fresno has had a TON of players with BCS offers. They probably had the best WR class on the west coast last year, except for maybe USC. One of the Wr's had offers from 9 Pac-10 schools. Hawaii gets a number of kids with BCS offers as well. Idaho already has one this year. Look at Boise St's commit list, 6 of our 7 commits have BCS offers, and two of them have around 10 each.

If Montana would move up you could probably keep some of the elite kids. Boise St wouldn't lose put on stars like Jake Plummer and Jordan Gross like they used to in small time conferences.

Miller almost certainly saw the Stanford admissions package, got scared and promptly accepted the Community college offer now known as Boise state University. A lot of recruits like to throw the Stanford name around but not many are enthusiastic on finishing the 2 essays needed to apply.

If you're not going to the NFL and have a real chance of going to a PAC 10 school you should go. BSU just doesn't measure up. Boise is the college the divorced wife attends after her PAC 10 educated husband dumps her for a trophy wife.

LOL, you made no attempt to hide your jealousy.

Yes, I'm sure 2 essays are what kept Miller from attending Stanford. They didn't even make his top 3, which was Oregon St, Arizona St, and Boise St.

Boise St has beat out numerous kids when it comes to Stanford. Miller, Kellen Moore's brother, Jeremy Ioane(who also had a Notre Dame offer as well) to name a few. Spending entire seasons in the top 10 and playing on ESPN 7 times a year have helped land kids like these...

Ian, you'll have the excuse the jealousy of some of our "fans". Depsite your success (including BCS games undefeated seasons and top five rankings), there are still idiots that think you are a "small school".

One our brilliant posters even commented "if Miller was that big of prospect, then why did he go to BSU?" Unbelievable. From a football standpoint, why in the hell would a kid choose Stanford over BSU right now????

That's a questionable statement, Raider. Stanford is a strong team and is on the rise right now. They're recruiting like crazy and will be one of the top 3 teams in the Pac-10 for the foreseeable future. Their QB has the chance to be the #1 pick in next year's draft. Rivalry games with Notre Dame, Cal, and USC trump whatever BSU can offer. The only question, in my view, is the coaching situation. Harbaugh has ascended to one of the hottest names in college football coaching and while he says he's there to stay, there's always some skepticism. Peterson is clearly loyal to Boise State and probably won't be going anywhere for the next 5 years.

From some of the posts on here, it sounds like Matt didn't seriously consider Stanford anyway... However, good cases can be made for both BSU and Stanford for THIS season only... The Broncos got everyone back but Kyle Wilson... and the Cardinal have Andrew Luck, but probably for one season. He'd have chance to go ahead of Jake Locker (I like Luck better anyway) in the 2011 draft. I have the feeling that if Harbaugh hangs around in Palo Alto, Stanford will always be an improving team.
From looking at Rivals.com, it doesn't look like BSU scored well this winter-spring with their recruiting... thus, a mild letdown might be on the way with a little less talent and the tougher schools of the MWC.
But, as someone mentioned before... Let's hope Matt has a bad case of home sickness in a year or two!

What do you mean Boise St didn't have a good recruiting class last year? We only had 7 scholarships to give, and we had 3 greyshirts. Every single recruit that is expected to redhsirt had 3 stars or more.

Miller had lots of offers. Jeremy Ioane had offers from Notre Dame, Stanford, Washington, etc... Tyrone Crawford is one of the best Juco DE's in the country and had 4 stars. It just wasn't ranked high because of the small class size.

This year we are killing everybody in the MWC minus TCU. DT Jeff Worthy has 10 BCS offers including UCLA

DE Sam Ukwuachu From Texas has 10+ BCS offers, including at last one from all 6 BCS conferences.

DE Robert Ash has offers from Washington, Colorado, Oregon St, Wazzu, etc...

Our DL recruiting is better than the large majority of BCS schools. Our DL coach is now our DC, Kwiatkowski. He's turned our DL into one of the best units in the country. I'd put our top 8 against any tam on the west coast.

Boise St is 13-1 all time vs the MWC, with a 1 point loss to TCU. A game Boise St led for 58 minutes.

Boise St has beat Utah, TCU, and BYU all on the road in the last 6 seasons. Including a 36-3 beatdown at Utah, and a 50-12'beatdown at BYU.

Boise St surely won't go 68-4 vs the MWC like they have against the WAC, but I think we can beat those guys on a regular basis.
