Mary Kay was my mom's sorority sister and lifelong close friend. When I was in elementary school, Shannon lived with us and was my nanny during the summer breaks. She would often pick me up for lunch from school and ,to the other kids, it was like having the female Michael Jordan visit. It made me so proud at the time to be associated with that in a small way.

Mary Kay's latter years were tough because she suffered a couple major strokes that immobilized her, which unfortunately led to a lot of other complications.
