Your Take on 2015

New coach, new system, new personnel, new personalities. A lot of unknowns coming into this season. There were some early polls asking what our record would be. I remember seeing a number of folks saying 3-8, 4-7, 5-6, 6-5. Of course the trolls were out in full force saying Stitt and company would fail miserably in this division and that the FCS is a whole different beast. Had some ups and have had some downs. Looking back on it all, are you happy with the 2015 regular season?

I can honestly say with all the unknowns, going 7-4 with wins over NDSU, EWU, MSU, and a potential playoff team in UND....winning 3 in a row with their backs against the wall.....getting into the playoffs after being 4-4.....I'm happy with this team. I definitely want more and would love to see this team make some noise. But as far as what they accomplished right now, today, I'm proud to be a Griz.

As I recall, some of us were saying that this team had plenty of talent, whereas a substantial group was claiming that we needed to wait until "Stitt had his own recruits." Remember?

I've noticed that the offense as a whole was improving especially in the EWU game. Regardless of what happens in the playoffs I think the offense will be amazing in the next season. GO GRIZZ!!!!!!!

I will remember this year for a long time because of the significant wins. The Griz had a first year head coach that beat NDSU (#1 team in the country 4 time defending champs), EWU (a bitter rival the Griz hadn't beaten in 5 tries), and MSU on the road (they were up what 34-14 at half?) It was a successful year despite some loses. Funny, I usually remember the loses more that the victories I think that is human nature. I will remember the wins more than the loses this year and it will be a successful season no matter what happens in the playoffs.

I think 7-4, bubble playoff team is fairly likely. 6-5 or 8-3 are both possible with 6-5 being more likely than 8-3. I played the game at a low to medium level and my season record predictions for any Big Sky team are rarely wrong by more than one game.

Fortunately we went into that last game (a guaranteed win) with a 6-4 record to make his post prophetic.

I am admittedly a booster and a major consumer of Griz Kool-Aid. I would say this season has went just about how I expected. The one thing I truly believed was we would beat the kitties. Several times I was pleasantly surprised (beating NDSU and laying a 50-burger on EWU) and several times I was disappointed (Cal-Poly and Weber) but overall I expected to have one home playoff game and after that who knows. Honestly I am more surprised that the other two Big Sky teams in the playoffs are Portland and SUU instead of EWU and state college, but I would have to say that is also a pleasant surprise. EWU and the bobbies can suck it. The Griz made it and they didn't. As far as our new coach I am excited to see what the next few years brings us. I think we look real good at QB with Brady next season and Willy waiting in the wings for three seasons after that. Stitt will be busy this off-season finding the right guys for this team. I feel great about the new Champions Center on the horizon. It's fun to be a Griz fan and I am looking forward to the next few years.

I predicted at the beginning of the year a 7-4 record. I just thought those losses would be NDSU, Cal Poly, Liberty and EWU.

Great subject. I expected 8-3 or 7-4 with the team to be playing it's best come the end of the season and to be hosting a 1st round game. As it turned out, that is the case. What I did not expect was to lose to Weber State, beat NDSU and EWU. I was not sure about the Cal Poly game, being their option attack is always a pain the ass for the GRIZ to prepare for.

To be honest, I honestly don't know what to expect in the playoffs. I am very happy and relieved the GRIZ did well against EWU and MSU to close out the season. I am confident the GRIZ defense will play well. I still am questioning our offense though. The GRIZ offense rolled against 2 terrible defenses to end the season, so I am not surprised they were good against EWU and MSU. I consider SDSU to have a very good defense, so a great showing on offense against them would really help measure where the offense is at?

It does look like to me Brady Gustafson did learn a lot from the sideline during his injury. He looks much more confident and comfortable executing the offense and in the pocket, than prior to his injury. Mentally the game is clicking for him and his decision making is better. Physically, I hope he can improve his passing consistency just a little more.

This years playoffs will be determined how well Gustafson and the OL play. At this time of the year with the bracket we are in, there is no room for let downs and inconsistent play. Before the year started, I expected the GRIZ to make it to the round of 16, possibly 8, but did not expect to match up with NDSU until the quarterfinals or semi finals.

Either way, it is great to have playoff football back this year and hosting a 1st round game. GO GRIZ!!!!
