You Gotta have a QB

Ah Yat - out of state recruit
McDowell - out of state transfer
Vidlak - out of state transfer (originally recruit)

QB room is about half out of state and half in-state.

I agree. It seems we have cut back on out of state recruiting….don’t know the reason, maybe budget?

Outside of the typical Griz fan response of facilities and fans, why would a kid from Cali, AZ, Ore, or Wash go there over Sac, Weber, EWU, Idaho, etc? There are multiple factors, and UM can't use the "do you want to win a National Championship" lure to seal the deal. Over a decade of mediocrity matters.

Bobby dosent understand offense. He never has had a creative offense. This is not a QB issue its a coaching issue. This will not change as long as Bobby coaches Griz. Hell Patrick Mahomes would struggle in bobbys offense

I thought he meant out of state high school recruits….not transfers.

That’s exactly what I meant. I don’t think coaches have done the best job. But, we can’t expect coaches to “develop” what isn’t there in a short period of time, if ever.

Sneed, Humphrey and Johnson were all very good QB’s. Sneed is doing well professionally.

Hoops, you said you would not take the Cat QBs or OL because they would not fit the system. It appears the current system isn’t working to good with the current QBs and OL. I think if I were the coach, I would take the Cat QBs and OL and adapt the system to their strengths. Just my take.

The Griz have recruited for the system they have. The line will get its act together. The QB’s lack experience but are coming along. One game at a time. I like passing, balance, duel threat, and rpo. The Cat offense is boring.

The starting QB’s in Bobby’s offense since he returned have generally not struggled in the offense in the past 4 seasons.

So how does one screen a transfer or recruit to make sure they never get hurt? What's the metric there?

The point is we have lacked quality depth at QB. When a starter goes down, the talent level and ability to manage the offense falls off a cliff. I guess the overarching theme would be lack of roster management. As time goes on, it seems like Hauck no longer understands what a championship level roster looks like as it pertains to today’s football. The UM roster looks so much different that that of the Dakota schools or even MSU.

How does the roster look different?

Cats offense boring? 😂😂😂

Yup. Too much running, not enough passing. Not a dynamic passing game. Cats are usually good at it, but it would put me to sleep. Cats must have played well against Weber.

In the FCS bracket, running (boring?) = Winning.

That is all that matters. Geez, some have no clue about the game.

In this day and age, too much running is boring, in my view. I like running, by the way. Sport is more than just winning, in my view. And running does not always equal winning. Talk about having no clue.

Bobby's managed to build an offense that's both boring AND nonproductive. Brilliant in its simplicity.

I'd take "boring" and 40 points a game over "dysfunctional" and 15 points a game.

Almost every FCS national champion over the past decade or more has had the ability to run it down their opponents throat. That's just a fact. No one cares what you like...winning matters in D1 football.

You're simply too old to understand the game. I doubt you played it. Stick to rugby - bet that game has also passed you by.

You know we have more passing yards and touchdowns than you do right? To go along with our nearly 200 yards more rushing per game? So we rush for way more, pass for a little more, yet the Cat offense is more boring than the griz offense? God I love you PR! :thumb:

UM's passing game and whole offense has been grossly deficient this year. But our pass to run ratio is much higher than yours. Yes, the Cat offense is somewhat boring. Good, but boring.

I'd take boring all day long if our offense operated with their efficiency. 44pts/game wins you a lot of games.

But it's still boring. I never the Cat offense was bad. In fact, I've said it was good. Is there some reason that some people have trouble reading what is said?

I just don't see what the problem with boring is? Especially if it wins you games. Nothing wrong with boring if it gets the job done.
