yes or no?

here's my hunch. the kid on the team who is the "recruiter" is rundles, ergo the player to replace phillips is from minnesota.

whoops, my bad. you know i never pay attention to mslacat's spelling, but this time it might make sense. does that make the "recruiter" hasquet?

That would fit given the boost to the community comment. Also, we aren't exactly swimming in good sized wings at the moment.

Its killin me not bein able to divulge this information but being that its not a done deal anything could happen.....from your responses I can say that some of you are getting warmer and some are exremley cold

Of course, a transfer from another D1 school would have to sit out a year and thus would not be able to help next season (kinda like Michael Taylor).

Was not Taylor promised a scholarship when one became available?

Can you say PAC 10 transfer? :thumb: Oh, I guess I just did. This will be no big surprise, but very nice for the Griz.

if i'm not mistaken, the griz did not offer mcgillis out of high school, preferring instead to bring in austin swift. so, one of the few mistakes of the kysko era will have been remedied.

McGillis was not offered by the Griz or the Cats out of high school. On a side note Kennedy did not want to sign Hasquet. You can thank an assistant Griz coach by the name of Tinkle who nagged, and nagged, Kennedy to sign Hasquet. It was not until a prime target of Kennedy committed else where that he finally gave into the nagging of this assistance and offered Hasquet.

BTW: Despite both Hasquet brother attending Bobcat camps 2 years running Durham did not offer Hasquet either. He did not think he a Big Sky Caliber.

yup, he'd have to sit a year. this is bb, where we're in with the jumbos, not football, where we're sub-prime.

Come on, this is killing me. Could a very reliable source please give us some more insight on who this player might be? By the sounds of this board, it is McGillis. IF not McGillis, would it be a player that can help us this year? How many years of eligibility, etc? What is the % of liklihood whoever this is, could be a done deal for the GRIZ!!!!!!! Help please. :thumb:

McGillis would not be eligible, this year (2007-08 season). He would have to sit out a year at UM as per the NCAA transfer rules, and then have two years of eligibility left.

If it is McGillis and he has to serve what essentially is a redshirt year (as is the case with Taylor), it seems to increase the likelihood that Selvig will not redshirt.

I'm sorry but out of respect to the individual involved I cannot say who it is....I can assure you that I am a 100% reliable source. I's are bein dotted and T's are bein crossed today.....but still it is not finalized therefore I will not give any details. I'm sorry but transfers can be touchy matters and would not want to throw a kink in the process. Hope you guys understand.....but whatever happens I can assure you the wait will not be long.

My problem with your reasoning is that by bringing it up in the first place, you have created a firestorm of speculation and name dropping that may have actually created the the "kink" in the process that you were trying to avoid. I know, I know, it is a message board, full of rumor and speculation.

Point taken grizatwork but what harm can speculation cause in terms of wether or not a player can transfer or not. That is completley up to the athletic department as to weather or not a release is granted. I really don't believe that EGriz has much pull with an out of state schools Athletic Department. But please correct me if I'm wrong. But still point taken, I could've waited until its set in stone but why not try and inspire a bit of D-1 basketball discussion when everyone is giving the attention to a football team who plays Fort Lewis College

I will add this, and it won't muddy any waters. The person has a redshirt available so it is not a case where they will waste a season. :twocents:
