Has the Eagles knocking the door on a 12 seed.....that would be something from the Big Sky if they could get a 12

Portland State just upset Eastern at Cheney so Sac State is back in the lead...the BSC is just not going to be able to look good on national tv playing their tourney in an industrial park on the edge of town....

This comment will sound like hindsight, but...

PSU's win over Eastern doesn't surprise me. We've seen the Eagles fade in late-season games over the past three years. Northern Colorado & WSU as well (except for last year the for the Wildcats). On the flip side, North Dakota, Northern Arizona and Portland State all seem to rise up late. And Idaho has a recent reputation for peaking just in time to win it all in the WAC...

This Big Sky conference race is not over yet. Look at how Fish has his Bobcats playing of late... he's getting good production out of a bunch that was considered glued-together (at best) at the beginning of the year.

Wayne Tinkle said repeatedly that how a team plays in the final month of a season was more important than the entire first 2/3 of the season's games combined. Travis DeCuire's comments in this morning's Missoulian reflect HIS understanding (very well focused) of how important, and advantageous, is for his Griz to play good strategic basketball from here on.

We'll see. And that's the greatest part of NCAA basketball... why it's called madness as we get to March.

Eastern may well win it all and if they do, more power to them. But this Big Sky race is not even close to conceding yet, and the most fun about it all is that -- under Travis DeCuire's first year at the controls -- the Griz are in perfect striking range of winning it all.

Go Griz.

I don't know if I should feel slighted or happy over not being mentioned in grizzleyjournal's post....I kinda like being on the outside looking in....as our coach Katz has said over and over "We have to play every game like we are the under dogs, because we are"....guess we have to play the games and see.....but I like our spot better than yours right now

Well.... sacstatesman: I purposely did NOT mention Sac State because I still can't get a good read on this team. I know this, Katz has really grown as a coach. Two years ago, besides a last-second win over Weber State that really helped the Griz, Katz had a tendency to put a choker collar on a good young team, which resulted in at least three losses that should have been chalked up to the coach.

Last year Katz changed a lot. He loosened the collar & the Hornets responded. This year's squad reflects that coach's "trust," so to speak. I guess I'm still waiting to see if Katz cramps up & slows this team down. Let em play, coach.

That said, tonight (an important game for Sac) the Hornets do not seem to match up very well against the Idaho Vandals. If Sac is going to move from a pretender to a contender, they have to win tonight against a talented offensive team with defensive "achilles."

Something in me still feels that Katz won't let his team loose. But if he does, they'll be in it to the end.

That's my opinion. Fire away.

Ok. Then my analysis is full of holes.

Not entirely. Some pretty astute observations.
