WR Core

I'm just a bit nervous going into 2016. After losing 3 of our top guys and 34 (?) coming in the Griz are gonna have an entirely new look. I remain optimistic though, of course. The incoming WR class looks great on paper. I kept track of everyone coming in and they all looked tall and from their HUDL vids and most looked aggressive with some size to them. I really like Ralston moving back to the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully he's as aggressive as Mitch Sailor was. Loved watching him run guys over!! (I did kinda feel sorry for that DB from Wyoming who tried to go head to head with him in 2013 lol.) Again, I remain optimistic. Holding on to a thought of the 2010 season going into the 2011 season in hind sight. GO GRIZ!!!

If Lyons is going to be one of our two best receivers that everyone in the Big Sky is talking about, we've got huge problems at the WR position!

8-10 best need to step up. Think that's doable. Ben Roberts came out of nowhere, one or two of these guys will do the same. The offense will likely look a little different, given Stitt's recognition of how ineffective the running game was. And it wasn't simply that the o-line wasn't always getting it done. Get the running game going and throwing the ball will be easier.

Hard not to agree with you. The run game had a hell of a time getting going. The different looks the Griz used during the EWU and sCats game was effective. But their defenses weren't very good. Unstable at best. Maybe a poll should be started to see who everyone has. Idk... I like a lot of these guys coming but they're just unproven.

Why would you say that? He's turning into potentially a great WR. Have you seen his work ethic in practice, heard from his coaches about how well he's progressing in the offense, been told about how much effort he's put into getting better all around?

You live in this strange fantasy land where apparently an 18 year old new recruit is at his peak level of talent or something. You went on about this with the OL as well. I just don't get it. Kids get better, they get stronger, they get comfortable in the offense, their coaches help them improve. Lyons and the rest of this team are making big strides.

There's another walk-on WR that you're going to hear a lot about, Louie-McGee.

Also all 4 of our "H" WRs are going to be matchup nightmares this season.

There's a lot to be excited about. This WR corps lacks experience but is bursting at the seams with talent. Get them on the field and they'll make plays.

I'm really excited about Jerry Louie McGee. Just a hunch but I think he may take the starting spot at Z this season. His tape out of high school is impressive.

"Core" or "corps?" It's a question that's dogged mankind for centuries.
There's always the dictionary. It's a relatively new and yet somehow affective tool.

"affective" or "effective?" It's a question that's dogged me for just over a minute now. ;)

No, I live in reality land, and you live in a world of "potential" and hyperbole. Players have to do it on the field, recruiting hype only means jack to pedestrian fans who salivate over high school accolades. We lost three WRs who caught 80% of the passes last season. Our top returning receiver had just over 20+ catches. Yet, we will be just as good in the passing game this season??? All three of last year's WRs could be signed as free agents or perhaps even drafted by NFL teams, and we can just plug in some young talent to play at that level in their first season? Please.

I think we recruited some very good talent. But until they prove it on the field, they are nothing more than POTENTIALLY great receivers.

Same went for Jones, Henderson and Roberts too. None have them had proved isht ON THE FIELD until they got to the Griz. So, by that rationale, I'm geuessing you ATL are willing to admit you thought they were just hype and hyperbole when they signed with the Griz too.

Are you describing yourself? I am as far from a bandwagoner as any Griz fan.

You jump on players' bandwagons AFTER they've proven themselves to be superstars. Classic band wagoner you are. Nice.

Maybe you should stick to pro sports if you can't handle turnover due to graduation. It happens with every program. There usually comes a time when younger guys need to step up. It'll happen again this year too.
