Would you sit JJ Saturday?

Nope I was just funning.

I take Jordy out as soon as we have the game in hand put Shay in for 3/4 of a quarter and insert the two young guns and let them pass the ball so we have a chance to see them play.

That way we can worry all year about next years starting QB!

Yeah. I would start either Simis or Gustafson, and play the other one a few series to see which of the two steps up. I think both can provide more offense than SSH.

I also would like to make a point about whether to keep SSH as the back-up rather than playing one of the youngsters. Most agree that one of the two young guns will be our starter next year, correct? We have all seen what SSH is capable of doing, and it has not been pretty to say the least. My point is this...... if these two young QBs are incapable of even producing at the SSH level this season, why would any fan be excited about their capability next season?

Yes, sit him. If he's less than 100% give him more time to heal. We need a healthy Jordan Johnson if we want a shot to win the conference and/or make a playoff run.

Start SSH and leave him in through the first half, or until we've got a decent lead. Then if the score allows, play #3 & #4 to get as much second half time as possible. This really is an easy decision, though I suspect they will play JJ even if he's only 75% back. I'd rather see him healed up for Cal Poly and the meat of the season. :ugeek:

For the same reason your boy Prukup wasn't 2nd string last year but you cat fans were excited about him this year.
 
I can't believe all the piling on against SSH (although I would be one to do it as well) after he threw that clutch pass that lead to the game winner vs UND. I realize his pick 6 lead to the predicament but he still came up big at the biggest time.

However, the Griz better come out and show a big offense in this game, to go along with great D. UC Davis is not a good team, but we need to start making a statement. Keep JJ in there until you pile up a huge lead, maybe sitting him in the 4th. Making a statement to me would be 600 yards of offense, and holding UC Davis to under 300! It probably won't happen, but a man can dream can't he?
 
Pretty sure I'd go with the tried-and-true approach: Start your starter if he can go, and pull him if you get a lead so backups can get reps.

If JJ is fine, which I here he is, he's playing. IF the Griz can get a big lead like against UNC, then SSH plays. That's just the way it is. The thought that Simis or Gus are pissed and their moral is low is laughable at best. They KNEW they were going into this season with JORDAN JOHNSON as the starting QB. And they KNEW SSH was going to play as well. They understood at the end of fall camp where they stood on the depth chart and exactly what the game plan for them was going forward and both of them are just fine with it. But please, don't take my word for it, ask them after Saturday's game where their moral is at.

It's hilarious how some posters are saying MD has screwed the young QB's and is mishandling the QB situation, YET, Willy Pflug is so excited to be a part of this team, coached BY THE CURRENT STAFF, he's apparently coming early.
 
I think if JJ is 100% he should play. If he is not then play SSH. I do not think this Griz team will have a game the rest of this season where they have a big enough lead to get other QB's in.

I however think it would be nice to see some of our younger QB get some live game action. Next year JJ and SSH are gone folks. I sure would like to know we had a QB with some live college football action.

If we miss the play offs this year, have a young O line and a QB with no playtime we will be luck to start out in the top 25 next year!
 
If JJ is 100%, he should start, however, I would hope he only plays one quarter. We can't risk JJ getting hurt in a game we should easily win. We shouldn't risk playing him more given the lack of consistent blocking by our OL.

We think our offense sucks, and THEIR offense has scored fewer points than ours. Their defense gives up an average of 38/game. Now, I don't think we'll score 38 (hell, I don't think we'll score 38 on anybody else on our schedule this year) but I don't think they'll score 14, so something like 28-14 sounds reasonable.
 
We aren't playing a bad D2 team here and we aren't good enough on offense to comfortably sit our QB out even against a seemingly very bad FCS team (who only trailed EWU 9-7 at halftime).

If JJ is ready to play, you play him until we have the game in hand then bring in whoever. It's not unheard of for a bad team to surprise a mediocre team.
