Lose to the Cats & have a Montana born & UM alum head coach or win the natty with a North Dakota born & NDSU former player & coach? Very tough question for me, my Montana roots are extremely strong. Also, my dislike for NDSU is very strong due to the success they've had & lack of championship success that we've had.

Why is this an either or choice? Is it because MSU hired a deputy SoDak AD and former NoDak assistant?
I'm always concerned about UM's hiring practices, or really any organization's that seemingly cannot look beyond its front porch for talent.
North Dakota is a big perch in a pond full of suckers. Have its former coaches set the FBS on fire? Being big in Wyoming is kind of like being a top 40 rap act in Croatia.

Don’t care where our coach comes from as long as he can recruit the state and develop high school recruits.

And? You think we have some moral victory here despite Vigen continuously kicking our ass because he is from NoDak and Bobby is from Montana?

I'd take a coach from literally anywhere as long as he wins.
This. Who cares? Do we think it means less to Vigen? Did it mean less to Joe Glenn? He won a flipping national championship for you guys. Once you become head coach at a place and take their money, spend their booster money, it matters not where you were born and raised. The OP line of thinking is the sort that can put a program in reverse.

An AD by the way, who had helped raise funding for facilities improvements and an IPF and knew how to implement the blueprint SDSU used during their rise to becoming a dominant program in the FCS landscape.

What if we *pretend* that the NDSU coach recruits and develops kids from Montana better than the Montana-born coach? Does that change anything?

I would hire a former Taliban member if he could consistently win us big sky and national titles.

This discussion is hilarious. I remember when all the griz fans were downplaying the national championship in 1995 because Don Read was from California. They were jealous because the bobcats had Cliff Hysel who was an actual Montana guy.
There were actually people who would rather have a coach with an under .500 record from Helena than a coach from California with a revolutionary offense that won the chipper? You Montana people are over the top on state pride if that is the case.

I dont give two F’s where the players or coaches are from as long as they are high character guys. If they are from Montana that’s a bonus. Anybody think Alabama or Georgia or Oregon or Indiana for that matter cares where coaches and players are from? They do not .
