Would a Quarter system Help UM basketball

I think that the fact UM students are absent for so much of the basketball season is an enormous problem for team support.

I dont even know if they will be back for the Bobcat game!!!!

Most quarter schools have already started which means students woudl be getting back into rooting for the Griz.

This hurts Grizzly baskeball more than a renovated fieldhouse, no show season ticketholders courtside, poor scheduling, "wannabe" NBA atmosphere...........

When I see the number of students in the stands when they are in session and during this holiday season, I don't think so. There just is not very many students going to the game. Big Sky Conference there will be an increase because there are some fans who come to watch Conference games only. Student attendence has been shafted somewhat with the remodel because of moving them from away from between the basket seats. But, as I have said before, student attendance declined before remodel and is still declining.

But, there will be more students when they return for Spring Semester, and for conference games. I just do not think there will be as many as there were last year. This is a trend that needs to stop. I think it will when the men's BB team starts winning. Hopefully, this year represents the bottom and in the coming years, the Griz will rise to dominance, interest in Griz BB increases and thus, attendance will rise, even among students.

The semester system only hurts 3 or 4 games. And the Griz-Bobcat game for men's is at home and will be hurt somewhat from lack of students, but how much is hard to tell since the student attendance has been declining.

Maybe they should put seats on the south lower level for the students, and more of them would sit there. But, it has never been full, not even half full on average. Not even for conference games in the past.

I am thinking it would have a much larger affect if the Griz were winning. So, for me, I am more worried about the Griz getting back to where they were in 1990-92 (winning both Big Sky Conference and tournament, just winning the Big Sky tournament doesn't do it for me).

I was just thinking that a lot of momentum or excitement that students are feeling about basketball is basically killed when they are gone for over a month.

I know there is a lot more to the situation but I really think that the effect of the semester hurts.

Plus, I think that Montana goes back a lot later than most schools too.
