It was. Papa Baer took a lot of shade from some ageist posters when he was brought in. He has his unit together now and I expect we will see better defensive performance than we've seen in many years.

I don't think Udub will run roughshod on them until late in the game when they've worn down.

I was afraid he was going to retire before the season. So happy he didn’t. Agreed, I too am hopeful for this OL against UW.

I threw him some shade when he was hired, but certainly not because of his age. I questioned the hire because his defenses at Washington were absolutely deplorable.

Same. I couldn't care less if he was 108 yrs old. It was his system I wasn't a fan of. And his past performances....Proof will be in the pudding on 11/20.

fixed it for you.

I love the shout-outs to Babros and “Belke”. Two redshirt-senior FBS drop-downs wreaking havoc from both ends of the LOS. It will be open-season on QBs

This year will prove if his system is as good as he claims. What happens on the field is the only test we need to see. I pray it is awesome!

Same here. I'm glad the fit between Montana and Baer has been excellent thus far.

The basis for the system is not his, It’s Rocky Long’s. Where Long got the basis for his system, I don’t know. And where that person got the basis for his system, I don’t know. One can keep doing this all night.

The same is true of almost everything in football. Someone stole (borrowed?) it from someone else. Success often depends on a bunch of other factors besides the scheme/system. Reports coming out of camp say the defense is looking better than ever. Sounds promising.

Our 2019 d was pretty good, remember we completely shut down Weber both in Missoula and during the playoff game. If not for five picks and a blocked punt we get to the National Semi-Final and that doesn't happen with out a better than fair D.

Strangely the two teams that did shred us were Sacramento through the air and the Cats on the ground.

It’s your last sentence that gave some of us fits. It was like you never knew which D was going to show up. They’d give up 45 yards rushing one week, then 250 the next. Very frustrating.

And I am on record (when Baer was hired) that I wasn’t a fan. But i also said I’d never be happier to be wrong in all my life. Well, this is the year where we find out if I was wrong.

If this statement is true, good job, you are way better at tearing open condemns than I ever was. No double blue line, please, I promise I'll never do it again.

I don't care who's system it is. If he is employing this system, then it is his as far as I am concerned. It is the system that makes or breaks him and the team. All I want is the best damn defense, period!
