Worth mentioning: Jesse Ginn's 3 and out

Totally meant to post this in my recap thoughts but I forgot to mention one of the more impressive single-efforts in a series by Ginn that I've seen in a while. I'm not meaning to discount the efforts of other players in the series but Jesse was key in forcing a vital 3 and out in the game.

Looking in the stats we see Jesse had just 1 tackle and 1 batted pass, but there was a lot more that happened there than what the stat book suggests.

Montana had just scored to tie the game up 24-24. Sac gets the ball on their own 22.

- 1st down, Safron gets a 4 yard gain on a rush. This was created by Ginn blowing up the middle of the Sac O-line, ruining the pass play. Safron scrambles for his life and is chased down by Alex Bienemann

- 2nd down, Sac hands off the ball, Ginn slides out of a double team and pops the ball carrier at the line of scrimmage. With the assistance of Brock Coyle it's a 2 yard gain.

- 3rd down, Safron drops back to pass, it looked like to me that Ginn stunts with the other interior tackle and gets a free shot at the QB, Safron hurries the pass which Jesse jumps up and knocks down. 3 and out.

The Griz would score on the next series, and the one after that as well.

Ginn is starting to show great promise for the future of the interior D-line. Love it.

Somewhat off this topic, but Caleb Kidder is playing better than anyone else on the defensive front right now.

He should be starting.

This.

Ginn looked like JJ Watt was wearing Maroon and Silver for 3 plays. Kid has unreal potential and if he puts it together could absolutely dominate this level of college football. His development is in VERY VERY good hands with coach Legi.

Ginn is getting better and better; I'm encouraged with his progress. Bienemann is one of my favorite Grizzlies and I'll be sad to see him move on after this season, but the D line should be in good shape next year. Ginn could turn out to be a real beast up front.

The D-line is really going to miss Bienemann next year, that's for sure. Seeing guys like Kidder and Ginn step up give good hope for that spot. Takai will be back, that's good, and Rehm is a good fill-in as well, he just doesn't have the flashy numbers that some of the other DTs can get.

Bingo! He is flat out bringing it. Ginn did have a good series, but the knock on him since high school has been that he does have those flashes of brilliance without the motivation to bring it every down. He could be all Big Sky, but does not have consistency to do it yet.

In the game thread,I and one other poster mentioned Ginn's dominating series, and not one response to it. Glad someone else noticed too. If he ever can realize his true potential and work to achieve it, this kid will be great.
