I full can see Engstrom instructing Delany to change his play book to keep JJ off the field. It's sad to say, but hey Engstron is the same guy who decided not to renew O'Days and Robins contracts. No I did not fire them, UM is going in a different direction. Looks like Engstrom is doing the same thing to JJ, new direction, new play book.

You don't honestly believe this is possible, do you?

I mean...wow. I've heard some stupid things before, but this one...this one takes the cake.

The offense is a speed pistol look. JJ was not mad, he was excited about then options. He loves the upperclass we have. He likes delany he loves the team and Weber states off. Coordinator was at his university doing his job. Not illegally recruiting a kid in a different state. Just wanted to bring some real facts to the board. Ps this offense is designed to change depending on the qb. From under center to read offense

In all this, I think it is obvious that JJ is man enough to sit down with coaching staff to discuss changes and new ideas. Give me a break. Also, Gragg worked with RP for a while and knows the blocking schemes. By knowing the blocking schemes, he knows the offense. The new OCs also have the written plays that RP designed and can make those their own. I am actually looking forward to what Gragg can come with up using JJ's ideas and strengths in mind. Also, a lot of JJ's success came from making something out of broken plays. The red zone plays should be pound 'em with OL and Counts so the offense should be adaptable to the strengths of the players.

The offensive scheme was not the problem last year. It was the QB.

Proof? We put up some of the most yards in the conference with the most incompetent QBs the Griz have had in the past 20 years.
You are exactly correct, which is why delaney would dump it. Par for the course for this idgit.

I hope it's not true, but I have been worried about this exact thing. The ACT Committee and Engstrom had to allow JJ back on the team. If they did not they knew full well there would be hordes of people angry at UM's doors.

Just because JJ is back on the team does not mean he would win back the starting position. UM's defense if being questioned about it would be, our offensive scheme has altered from 2011 when JJ played and we have another QB more suited for this style.

I hope this is all untrue but seeing how Engstrom has operated in the past it is all to believable.

I completely agree. With Royce pulling the strings, Delaney is going to make it as difficult as possible for Johnson to earn and retain the starting spot at QB. Gustafson is the future, and the quicker that happens, the quicker Royce extends the coaches contracts. It bothers the hell out of me, but that's whats happening.

We will continue to struggle as long we have a weak, senile puppet for a head coach. It's a shame considering the potential this team has.

Delay is done after this year, ask him yourself! He doesn't want an extension

Right. But what about someone else on this staff getting the HC job? It wouldn't surprise me if UM doesn't even put together a search committee.

Absolutely some of the dumbest comments I've ever seen in ANY egriz posts are in this thread. Guarantee we can tell who on here believes in conspiracies, and probably believe that their was a 2nd shooter, aliens did crash near Roswell, Elvis is alive and the US Government is directly responsible for 911.

5700....the string pulling will be Williams pulling the strings of his puppet Engstrom. I don't think Haslam will allow any conspiracy against JJ if there is such a plan.

Jeezus. Okay of JJ were going to transfer, the University would have to grant his release. Having said that, no way in hell they let JJ transfer to another conferance school. The kid has been away from our program for over 12 but stayed as close in contact as he could with everyone. I seriously doubt he's just realized the playbook and now is bitching.

I guess I'm a little nervous with Johnson and Delaney's offense. Mainly because I think Johnson's going to hate it, not that he can't run it.

I have an interview taped from KPAX in February before the recruits were signed where Delaney talks about hoping for an extension if things go well. Maybe he changed his mind in the past month?

Alright, this thread has gotten just a tad out of control. At no time did I say JJ was going to transfer, just that I heard he wasn't exactly thrilled with the offensive changes. While I absolutely hate the idea of scrapping Robin's offense (which was dominating in Season 2, could you imagine what Season 3 w/ Robin and JJ would have looked like?), I really don't think it's a far cry to say this coaching staff didn't exactly look comfortable with what they were doing last year. I really don't care what the offense is as long as it tailored to take advantage of JJ's talents.

I don't for one second believe that Engstrom will be telling the coach what to do other than possibly how to deal with player issues if they arise. In case you didn't see tv coverage of JJ's acquittal, Delaney was seen celebrating on camera with Paoli outside the courthouse. It was very clear that Delaney is ecstatic to have his qb back.

As you can see I've only recently posted...read a lot...just recently posted. It is amazing what people will create to justify their feelings for the Grizzly coaching staff...yes, I witnessed some "what the hell are they doing" last season (SUU, EWU, UND) to name a few, so questioning decisions is warranted, but to really believe a group of men, who have forgotten more football than any of us will ever know, will change the entire offensive scheme with the return of JJ is nuts. I do know what I would do if I were interested in running the Pistol, read-option, etc. and that is fly in Coach Ault for a few weeks and get it from the man.

It's good to see egriz back to bat-crap crazy rumor mongering about players transferring in or out based on an initial post that didn't even state that was happening.

Ahhh normalcy.

Well, one of your "facts' is not correct. Weber State's OC was indeed in Missoula this past Friday for Pro-Day. He was on KPAX watching the event in the stadium.

I suspect moving Gragg up to co-OC is a move to see if he has the stuff to be a HC.

Really? that is what you think? in season 2 your offense was above average and that is about all that could be said about it, the defense was a different story in 2011 but the offense was nothing to write home about.

I just don't see why the revisionist history is so important to you fizz fans,

Aha forgot about pro day. But the ncaa would want to know if he talked to jj about Weber state, since its a recruiting violation. So if anyone has info that they met....you should let the ncaa know. But I think he has more common sense then to try to do that.
