Wisconsin

Many of these teams know how to fall apart down the stretch. I've been waiting for UCLA to do something with that talent for years now, and it hasn't been since 2006 that they've really done anything with it.

Oregon is getting better and should be with the facilities and renewed fan support.

Arizona state? Ok. Get real, pal. Not since James Harden have the Devils been relevant. At. All.

So I said BESIDES Arizona. Last year, one team made it to the tournament. ONE. That's a slight decline over the past year when they managed to get 3 in. Crap-12 basketball is incredibly overrated. I'd take MWC, WCC, MVC teams any day over those craptacular overrated West Coast programs.

Fine. I predict Arizona, UCLA and Oregon all make the tourney, with ASU having an outside shot depending on where/how they finish.

Like I said, bring lots of salt. That hat is gonna be a mite chewy.

Please point out in any post I have ever made on Egriz where I said the Cats had a quality basketball team. I have not. And that isn't the point. But your Cat bashing is revealing enough. Carry on, ladies.

Where did anybody say that you said the cats were quality? i must have missed that

So, you're saying kitty fans are all arrogant assholes? I'd agree. I mean, they pick the cats to upset FBS teams and the GRIZ every year. And those things happens about once every 2 decades. And here, I'd like to use a basketball example, but well....

Or does your "logic" that fans of a team who actually pick their team to win are arrogant not extend to bcn? Holy mofo, you're a piece of work.

It must suck to be a cat fan.

How was beating the Griz this year an upset in football? I would say that was business as usual for both teams. Montana found out that playing in WaGriz didn't guarantee a Griz win and the Cats, SUU, and NAU all found out that it didn't guarantee a loss.

How was beating the Griz in 2010 an upset? The Cats were better that year in almost every way, just like this year. It had just been a long time since it had happened, but the tide can change quickly, as you know from this recent dominant 5-6 season.

The only legitimate upset I saw in the past 3 years was when the Griz destroyed an inferior Cat team in 2011. It wasn't an upset. Honest Cat fans saw that one coming from miles away. The Griz were getting better, the Cats were getting worse, and it was writing on the wall. Jordy was dominating more and more, the offense was rolling, the defense was making good teams look stupid, and not even the 2nd best team in the Big Sky had a chance. It sucked to watch, but they were so much better it isn't even funny.

I will continue to laugh at the arrogance of Griz fans from last year, who based on the analysis of one "expert," decided they were going to beat Wisconsin, and then because of the 5-12 upset, play and beat Harvard too. It was all very enjoyable to read. I can dig back up the thread if you want, Everett, but I noticed the last time I did that you tucked your small dick between your legs and took your ball home. Let me know if you want to read it again though, buddy. It has some real good stuff.

Again, I have never bragged about Bobcat basketball. That would be not just arrogant but stupid. They suck. So isn't it ok for me to admit it? It has been a long time since you've admitted in Everett, but maybe it will help. Start with me: "The Griz sucked in 2012 at football."

Go ahead, little guy. Come on!

Yes. That's the precisely the point which -- somehow! -- you fail to grasp. In the last 30 years, there have been only one or two actual upsets. And the vast, vast, vast majority of those involved the GRIZ as overwhelming favorites (and in many case, even more overwhelming victors). Yet, year after year after year, cat fans predicted cat victories. Yet somehow, that evidently doesn't equal arrogance in your mind in the same manner as a Griz fan predicting their team will win.

I mean, I am shocked -- SHOCKED!!! -- that there hasn't been a NY Times expose' on this issue: FANS OF A UNIVERSITY PREDICT THEIR SCHOOL WILL WIN GAME!!!!! Please, somebody call the producer of ESPN's 30 For 30 show. We're gonna rock the world of sports fans all over the globe with this story. The absolute horror: A fan actually picking their team to win!

There just simply are not enough face-palm photos to do this justice...

I'm going to take the advice of a few sensible Cat fans who have PM'd me to say how off the wall you are on this issue and just ignore it, because it makes me look silly even replying to it.

Can you explain to me just how in the fuck you concider that a legit upset? what you described is in no way an upset!

Of course you havent bragged about bobcat basketball why would you? WTF is there to brag about. There is a difference between being confident and proud of a team that continues to win 20 games and bragging about the cats. If you flip flop the situations and the cats were actually good..been some what of a consistant threat for a decade...and made it to the NCAA tourney 2 out of 3 years, twenty plus win season 3 times in a row and entering the NCAA tourney on what i beleive was the nations longest winning streak I would imagine there would be some people east of the divide excited and thinking they had a chance at winning. So until you can put yourself in that situation, which im not sure has or ever will ever happened for cats fans GFY :thumb:

and you wernet even on egriz last year for basketball season....so keep digging up and going through every old thread you can in a pathetic effort to make griz fans look bad because we have pride in our basketball team and think/want them to win

GRIZ fans are no different than any other fan base. We believe we can win games and compete, no matter who the competition is. That is a part of fan hood. Rather than taking this pissing match further, let's discuss that game and this season.

A few things happened against Wisconsin out of the ordinary on our side and their side to make that game worse than it should have been.

(1) Will Cherry played the worse game his career. I am sure Will admit that being the case too.
(2) The GRIZ missed shots they were accustomed to hitting all year.
(3) Wisconsin's size was by far the best front line we played all year. The GRIZ did not adjust well whatsoever. I am sure the coaches and players would admit that too.
(4) Before the game, Wisconsin fans said their perimeter game has to step up. Their perimeter game was inconsistent and out right bad too often last season. That is not from me, but some diehard Badger fans.

Before the game, I spoke to many Badger fans and all of them were a little concerned about the GRIZ perimeter game, and Cherry causing them problems. After the game, many Badger fans told myself and other GRIZ fans, "Our shooting came through, and glad it did." They assured me they had not shot that way most of the season, and they did not expect that shooting to continue throughout the game. If you all doubt me, feel free to read pregame and post game threads from Badger fans posting here. By the way, their fans were all class too.

After that game, I and a few others posted that Will Cherry, and the team needed to use that game to work on creating for teammates. Granted, Will Cherry has only been back a handful of games. Guess what, he is creating and looking for his teammates so far this year, and actually looking damn good at it. Ditto that for Jamar and Deshields too. Gregory is capable of improving that part of his game too. He is taking the ball to the hole pretty consistently himself, but tends to draw a foul. That makes sense because he is a great FT shooter.

Another criticism from that game was not ready enough to shoot quicker against a higher caliber of team. They were to used to taking their time for open shots. That tendency is still there, but has improved a lot since the Wisconsin game. Gregory and Weisner are always ready to shoot the ball upon catching it. Jamar and Cherry pick their times when to take the game over, and when they do, they don't hesitate either. Ward shoots it well and often too, which we did not see last year. Henderson and Coleman are still finding their games, but are getting more comfortable every game.

By the looks of it, the coaches and players identified little things to work on from that game, and they have improved. I see a lot more confidence from the perimeter and taking the ball to hole this season as a whole, and a team commitment this year.

Sure we are huge underdogs against any team with good paint players. We also match up on the perimeter offensively and defensively, with the majority of teams in the country. That has not been the case in prior years. This years GRIZ are capable of shooting lights out from 3 every game. Granted that is a recipe over confidence, but also upsets.

The Pac 12 teams were mentioned earlier. I follow Colorado Basketball closely, and they would be a very difficult match up for the GRIZ too.

Regardless if it be the GRIZ, or anyone else, I always pull for the BSC in the NCAA tournament.

Carry on now.

Ok, Everett. You do that. I'll wait and let them go ahead and contact me directly. But thanks for the 2nd hand information.

The lovely point about Wisconsin, as stated earlier, was that a poster named Everett Griz claimed for days that he never predicted a Griz win. Never, he said. Later, when it was discovered, Everett disappeared. It was one of the high points of my brief posting career here on Egriz. Good work, Everett.

I've given respect where it is due to Griz players and fans. You can't reciprocate it, making you worse than a fan. It makes you a hack. In fact, one of your fellow Griz fans was bold of enough to state this himself for everyone to see just a few days ago. I've got better things to say about some Griz players than you do. If that isn't messed up, I don't know what is.

Carry on, buddy. :)

The key to that game was how well Wisconsin's guards shot the ball. They got on a roll early, and simply never quit. That, and they played smothering defense, but we expected that. What we didn't expect was their guards to light it up like they did.

The result was disappointing, but it's damn fun to be talking about the Griz and regular appearances in NCAA tournament games. :thumb:

What are you even talking about? I dont recall everett bashing any griz players, and who was this fellow griz fan...was it Growler or one of his MANY alter egos?

Beck,

You're wasting your time. Even cat fans can't stand the guy and wish he'd give it. I've chosen to take their advice and ignore him.

Damn, this game was fun to watch. And listen to. The UCLA announcers started the game saying it would be a nice tune-up for UCLA, then began to say that the test for UCLA would be good, then started saying that the Griz were on equal footing, and finally openingly admitting at the end of the game that the Griz were the superior team. Damn fun times!!

Thanks for the tip...but i would rather just argue even though i know it will never get through his head. The basketball board doesnt have much going on about REAL basketball right now so i would rather get a kick out of this guys bull shit than nothing at all lol. Speaking of posts...how bout Jakeweezys on that other thread just now haha..i bout pissed myself. Jakeweezy is ALL CLASS! :thumb:

so good. damn Qvale was good. I know people are probably sick of hearing it but, shit, how good would it have been if he was around another year?

First off, the BSC is a weak conference and the champion will likely be a 13 - 16 seed based upon historical averages. Therefore, they are likely to get the 2nd team in the ACC, B1G, Big East, or Big 12. So you're looking at Duke, Miami or NC State from ACC; Michigan, Indiana, Michigan State, or Ohio State from Big Ten; Syracuse, Louisville, or Marquette from Big East; and Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Iowa State, and Baylor from Big 12. I'm sorry to say but the Griz would be lucky to be in the gym with these teams. I'd say the over/under on the point spread would be about 22.

If we're a 15 or 16 seed, maybe we get one of those teams but a 13-seed is getting essentially the 13th-16th best team in the nation. And that ain't Michigan, Louisville, Syracuse, Kansas, Kansas State, etc. Hell, the top 4 seeds are coming from your list and I highly doubt the Griz will be a 16 seed.

Assuming a BSC championship, I see a 12 seed and a Griz matchup against an Oregon, a NM, a NC State or a Minnesota.

As much as I'd love to believe we could be a 12 I think we're kidding ourselves saying that. Assuming we make it to the dance I see us at a 13 tops, more likely 14-15.
