Wisc-Mil Griz

21 second half free throws sounds pretty bad. Were the refs really bad tonight? I didn't listen to the game, but I'm sure the Griz played hard and fought all of the way. You lost to an awfully good team and 10-2 is an excellent record.

That was a heck of a basketball game. Over 7200 fans there. Listening to Krysko on the post game show driving home it was great how he talked about telling the players how proud he was of their work in the classroom. I know he wanted to win this game, but Krysko commented that the kids will be a little easier to coach now, which isn't a bad thing.

I think the Griz will be right there all season. Tonight's game will not hurt them at all. UWM plays 7 Seniors and it showed. The free throw discrepancy hurts, but I didn't really feel we lost beause of refs. We needed to do a better job on the boards. UWM really crashed the boards and that is something we can and will learn from.

Just got home. There were lots of fouls, but most were deserved, except when Boo drove the lane way out of control and through some crap up and drew one. Yeah, there were some bad calls, but no way am I blaming the refs. We had the ball down by 2 and 17 seconds. We had our chance. Martin threw up an air-ball from NBA range too early as he does sometimes, but if it went in, we'd all be going crazy. I rather take a shot at the win instead of working it around and not getting a shot off.

My only criticism would be when we had the ball with a minute and down by 2. THAT is when we need a quick shot and get 2 possessions to 1 to end the game. Not many teams take advantage of that. Teams get too scared to take a bad shot then, but it is the best time to shoot quickly.

Tough lose, but a great showing. Milwaukee is the real deal. They have some amazing athletes. They just kept coming too. They are DEEP. The full-court press was relentless and we could not beat them deep once. They were so quick to get back. That was great experience. Not many teams in the country can press that well. We struggled with it, but did a great job for the most part.

Tigert was a bull-dog and Strait played just as well as him. Strait has Big Sky MVP written all over him, maybe even this year. He is just gonna have his way in Conference.

Hasquet was the the only one who didn't play well tonight. He could not get a rebound to save his life. He blew 2 easy lay-ups, and turned down a wide-open 3. Chavez played MUCH better than Hasquet, but Hasquet's been great this year. I'm not ripping him, just saying it was his worst game by far. Finally Sharp came in after Hasquet looked especially bad, and he made a bucket and got a rebound right away. I thought Sharp and Chavez should have had most of the minutes after seeing that this was not a good match-up for Hasquet.

7213 attendance.. Amazing crowd considering no students. The north student-section sat almost the entire game too. If the football players were here, it would have been rocking, but great crowd nonetheless.

Awesome game, great crowd, both in numbers and getting loud. The crowd needs to learn to lean more on the refs earlier to get home court advantage on calls. In the 2nd 1/2 UWM had 4 fouls to 0 for Griz, UWM throws a fit, fouls turn around immediately.

All the credit for the win goes to UWM, though, they played great. I am impressed with 10 T/O with the press UWM laid on the Griz for almost the entire game. Good job boys.

The difference in this game, IMO, was 7 Seniors for UWM vs 2 for the Griz. They played it cool down the stretch, and don't panic. I wish Criswell or Mathews would have handled the ball with 15 seconds left, but Martin was open for the last shot, just didn't have the gas, and nobody rebounded.

I thought it was a poor shot selection at the end, thought they should have played for the last shot underneath the basket, hope t draw the foul. BarnBall disagrees, liked shooting early for the chance to win, and he knows a lot more about basketball than me, so it probably wasn't a bad shot.

Wow what a game! Even though the Griz lost, it was a great game. Just outstanding. Wisc-Mil was damn good. I think they are as good as ANY team I've ever seen in Missoula and I've seen a lot of Griz b-ball the last 15 years.

Official attendance was 7,213! I can't WAIT for conference play.

what a game, some of the first half calls were questionable, they simply out rebounded us. their offensive boards for buckets were huge for them. we didnt rebound as well as we have in the past but life goes on. not gonna bash any players cause we ALL know that they worked their ass off. good game griz and keep em comin. idaho state wednesday, thats bad scheduling because thats the rose bowl, come on!

That is a great crowd considering there were no students. Griz basketball is back! Now just keep going people, we have a great product with good basketball and good kids. It would be a shame to fall back into the abyss. This game and the experience gained from it will only make us stronger in conference. Good effort it sounds like, just not the results we wanted. On to the next game........

ISU is 1/5, Thursday night, no scheduling conflict.

Saturday 1/7 should be another big crowd due to Little griz dance night - lots of little kids and their parents. Suggest you get tickets to Saturday night early, but Thursday will probably be a better game, and better indication of how Griz will do in Conference.

I would take Wyoming with Fennis Dembo in uniform. And Idaho when they were ranked in the top 25. And yeah, Gonzaga a few years back with Casey Calvary and the boys. But yes, Wisc/Mil is a very good team, but lets not go overboard.
