I can't imagine that assistant coach contracts have a requirement to notify of intention of non-renewal. I assume the contracts just end on the end date, and if not renewed by the school, everything is done and over.

Some contracts for mucky mucks have a notice of non-renewal clause. I know O'Day had one like that when he was AD. I doubt that head coaches have any such clause either. Coaches get judged and decisions are made after seasons generally.

I thought that I read somewhere that all contracted University employees had to be given advance notice of contract non- renewal. And, it was a lengthy time frame. That is why I was asking if anyone had first hand knowledge.
'33, you're a good guy. I honestly like you a lot more than the other goons that used to come around here until they had nothing to spew anymore.

But why does it always seem like you start from the premise that MSU and it's entities are infallible, and then work to justify that position with whatever you can think of, rather than looking at what's happening and then judging your school and its leaders? I get it, you love your school, but it's been how you've talked about this issue the entire year.

I can't be the only person who's noticed this.

They have all displayed that sentiment, pretty much, except for iltc. Their blind trust in the administration that flat-out lied to them does not waver. I honestly think the MSU administration could announce a ban on all sports practices, and more than a few of them would say, “Well, they must have a good reason. I trust their judgment. We have to wait for all the facts.”

Thank you. In this case I have expressed my disagreement with the way it has been handled since day one. I have expressed it to the AD directly and other places. I don’t think I have tried to justify it. I am glad Garza is gone and I hope Housewright is next. I have been exposed first hand to the dangers DUI can cause.

My thoughts on the matter are if they don’t get rid of Housewright they will open themselves up to a lawsuit. Garza’s 3rd DUI was plain stupid, but House demonstrated deviant criminal behavior when he used workplace power dynamics and coerced a subordinate to take part in a coverup.

It suuuuuuuure is convenient they fired his ass immediately after a bad season, after it was clear they were pulling all sorts of tendons, muscles and ligaments with their legal delay gymnastics in order to keep him on board through what they thought would be a good season.

Mehhh, I'm sure it's puuuuuuurely a coincidence he was let go now and not right after his 3rd dui. Certainly not WAAC or anything of the sort. These things take time ya know.....

Any bub who supports ANY of the actions by their "leadership" should be ashamed. What a fucking disaster of a program.

When we first printed the story early Thursday morning, the information I had acquired was that Bobby Daly had been promoted to DC. You probably read the initial print.

Since then, we confirmed that Garza did not have his contract renewed and added a few paragraphs about his DUI, plus court dates.

Garza's one-year contract expired in March. Daly called plays for Montana State's playoff game against Weber State in 2022 because Garza was suspended for a DUI he was cited for two weeks earlier. The DUI charge was the third for Garza.

Garza's DUI came six months before offensive coordinator Taylor Housewright was also cited with a DUI.

https://www.kbzk.com/news/crime-courts/montana-states-offensive-coordinator-taylor-housewright-pleads-not-guilty-to-all-charges-including-aggravated-dui

Garza's most recent DUI case is ongoing. He has an omnibus hearing scheduled for January 4, per a report from the Billings Gazette citing Gallatin Valley Justice Court documents. Garza pleaded not guilty to all of his charges, which included speeding and operating a vehicle with an out-of-state driver’s license beyond 60 days of living in the state in addition to the DUI. Garza lost his last job at Wyoming for a DUI charge in 2019.

Per when Vigen will address the media: we requested a post-season press conference before this most recent dismissal and Montana State said the next time Vigen addressed the media would come on December 20 for early signing day.

When asked for comment about Garza's dismissal and Daly's promotion, Vigen and Montana State declined comment, saying their standard "we do not discuss personnel issues" line.

For those that missed the updated version of this story, here's the link:

Much appreciated update, Colter.

I'll be anxious to hear what he says at the press conference, and hope everyone there pushes him on the "personnel issue" bullshit.

You mean EXPIRES in March of 2024 correct? He had signed a one year renewal in April of this year.

That was outlined here:

You and I both know that any and all questions on the matter will likely focus on the promotion.
If some rogue journo decides to ask about the outgoing DC, I'm sure Mr. Personality will have a canned "decided to go in a different direction" answer. If said journo follows up with, "Did it have anything to do with his pending legal issues", Sixx is in a pickle, and here's why:

1. If he says "no", then it shows they are WAAC and would have kept him on had they won more.
2. If he says "yes", it shows they are WAAC because the legal issues haven't changed since his last renewal/raise, and they were simply out for a dream season.

Accordingly, I'm sure he will be advised not to touch the pending DUIs. The problem with that is this: a "no comment" answer is basically a "yes" answer and reverts back to #2 above. Therefore, I predict the press in attendance will be admonished not to ask anything about it, and they will comply.

Damn, CDA! Way to go full Machiavelli on us.

I’ll bet Sixx’s wife, Mommy, has already game planned for this exact scenario. She’ll have a big pot of potato and cheese soup on the stove and his PJs laid out on the bed.

Soooooo, today? Are you up late working on your story from the presser? Glad you finally got to ask the burning questions, just like you promised early in the year, and can’t wait to read all about your hard-hitting exposé.

I imagine he wasn't even there considering he's stated on his show for the last week that he's going on vacation starting the 19th...

Are you saying the coach mailed it in, or the “reporter”?

Or both?

Look, man, the journos simply will not ask these types of questions. They’d rather have the Most Boring Man in the World drone on for 15 minutes about some 18yo safety he signed from Nowheresville. Thats what really drives the clicks. He’d have to be a Griz coach to get asked the difficult questions.

Who could blame Colter for skipping that one. I’ve had a running theory that ever since the cat loss in the championship game that Waded and Costello had Coach Sixx replaced with an audio-animatronic figure created from open source information and stolen original plans from the 1965 Walt Disney Abraham Lincoln automaton.

The figure is the spitting image of the coach right down to the palid skin, nonexistent expression of emotion, and the long, boring, monotone coach-speak answers.

The original Walt Disney Lincoln
