Will we make the playoffs

I say no. Even if we reach 8-3, that might only be good enough for a 4th place finish in the conference (unless EWU, UCD and ISU implode - which is possible, I'll admit). I have a tough time seeing 4 Big Sky teams get into a playoff field of 24.

Everybody and anybody knows that und is a huge game against a tough opponent. Pulling off a win would be a huge lift to the players after last Saturdays fiasco. With a bye week to get ready for UC Davis at home we may set up for a good run heading into Griz\cat week. A loss will be a punch in the gut and probably result in a pride game against the kitties. I believe this weekends game will give us a good idea what this team is all about. I agree that 3-2 is not going to be good enough.

If we’re 8-3 and 6-2 in conference, we’re in the playoffs. Guaranteed.

How we rebound this week will tell a lot. I really don't give PSU that much credit for the win, we shot ourselves over and over. Bad pass, great throw no catch, fumble, fumble, fumble, fumble and time of possession and simply bad luck.. Even with all that we loose on a 52 yard field goal. There are upsets almost every weekend and sometimes the ball does not bounce your way. We may not be a a playoff team yet but we are way better than what happened last weekend. I think we still have a good chance at the post season.

We were definately loose on the 52 yard field goal; no tension detected. A good sign for this week; a game we cannot afford to lose.

That's the silliest thing I have heard this week. 8-3 Montana doesn't get a playoff bid? The NCAA may not be the smartest but they aren't stupid. That's way too much money to let go. 7-4 sure I don't see us getting in at 7-4 but 8-3 is an automatic if you are from the big sky....or if you have MONTANA on the jersey and 22k fans on that first playoff weekend.

He is attempting to use the "4th place in the Conference" qualifier as his reasoning. In truth, how many teams are 8-3 or better is a much bigger deal than being the 4th team from your Conference.

This actually reminds me a TON of this last Griz week. Tons of turnovers and just terrible execution.

If we're 8-3 and there are three teams ahead of us in the standings, BSC will be a 4-bid league.

This weekend could be the difference but.........no.....well....maybe....well.....no.....maybe??

Also, Halley said a few weeks ago he thought 5 Big Sky teams could dance, for what that's worth,

5-0....in, 1-2 games in wagriz

4-1....likely, possibly 1 at home

3-2 (or worse)...nope
I agree if we finish 5 - 0 we get a home game. But 4 - 1 is likely going to put us on the road for the opening round. And 3-2 we sit at home.

The Cats and Griz will likely never be on the road for a first round playoff game. It’s done on a bid system and the Cats and Griz will outbid 95% of the teams they’re up against based on the stadium size.
Either one could be the 24th team in, and they’ll be at home round 1.

I'm not confident either UM or MSU will make the playoffs now, but you are correct about the point that either school can/will host a first-round game if they do make it. And just to clarify/update your %, UM will outbid/host over EVERY FCS team in America (#1 in FCS attendance last yr), MSU might be at the aforementioned 95% (5th in the nation in 2017 att).
