Will NDSU Repeat? Your prediction, please.

If you compare our only common opponent, the Griz whomped NIU 48-10 in the playoffs. NDSU beat NIU 27-19 in a close game on Oct. 29. Griz had a great run at the end of the season until SHSU kicked our asses in the first half. I wouldn't count out the Griz beating NDSU in a championship game. We ran into a helluva buzzsaw in Huntsville. NDSU would not have dominated us offensively. No way to tell what the score would've been, but to say NDSU would have beat us for sure is BS.
NDSU beat the same SHSU team that beat Montana, which would be another common opponent. I'm not saying NDSU would've won for sure, but why did you completely disregard NDSU beating SHSU and try to act like we only had one common opponent? I do think a NDSU vs Montana NC game would've been awesome though.

easy with the logic there...doesn't go over too well here. Question, what is it that makes NDSU what it is...I understand why a kid would want to play in Montana or App State. What are they offering that brings in this great talent? Not saying it's a craphole, just an overall lack of knowledge on it. I think there are a lot of schools out there where a coach does a good job and they blow their way in only to fade right back out Nova, EWU...I know the Bison were D2 up until recently but they were competetive at that level and after the move up FCS was darn lucky they couldn't play in the playoffs right away because they sounded tougher than hell.

I think a lot of the team is made up of local kids (ND, SD, MN). I know last year's defense was mainly local kids. Obviously we're going to keep a lot of the ND kids. As far as the MN kids, maybe they grew up hearing from their family the reputation that NDSU football had, and that makes them want to go there. Also, let's be honest, wouldn't you rather play for NDSU than Minnesota? Haha. Seriously though, Minnesota has a pretty big population, and if you were just barely good enough to get on the team at Minnesota (and not see much playing time), a lot of them would probably rather play at NDSU. I do think we recruit MN very well though. Also, I don't know if we necessarily have better talent than a lot of other schools. (We didn't have a single player drafted this year.) I think Bohl does a great job coaching the players and getting them ready for the games though.

While I would have loved to see a UM/NDSU NC game matchup, I think the biggest advantage NDSU had was having 2 weeks to prepare. Also, having just played another option team (GSU) and having a ton of coaching experience against the option in general didn't hurt.

Another good question... who thinks Southern Cal has a chance at the BCS now that they stole away NDSU's D-coordinator? This boy might have the smarts to shut down Oregon's O and SC is already got Top 5 talent on board and will start the season high in the polls.

also remember NDSU had a month to prepare for SHSU while the griz had probably four days because of flying....not making an excuse. But its the same for any bowl there is a lot of time to prepare for the final game. I think if the national championship had been played the next weekend NDSU would have lost. In the championship game SHSU tempo was slowed down compared to when they played the cats and griz.

No denying that. I'd say the advantage definitely goes to the defenses with more prep time, and NDSU's offense isn't exactly "tricky" (except for that fake punt in the NC game).

I believe you must be a fan of another team masquarading as a Bison fan....Bison fans are not as lucid and rational as you.

this....look at the 2nd half stats in the SHSU game. Totally different ballgame than the first half, however, the first half still counts and the Griz were one 4th down stop away from having a chance at putting away the 'Katz. NDSU came with 2 weeks to prepare and did what they needed to do, score at least one more point than SHSU.

Haha. Sorry to confuse you. Let me add this. Montana would've had NO chance against NDSU. We would've destroyed you. That better? Seriously though, it would've been awesome if it was a NDSU-UM NC game. My wife and I would've gone down for that one (she is a Griz fan and we live in MT right now).

Also, I can assure you that not all Bison fans are bad. It seems that every group has a few bad seeds though, and they seem to be the most vocal. So I apologize on behalf of the rational Bison fans.

Bison fans get a bad rap on message boards because we have some really annoying people that post on multiple message boards. As far as if NDSU played Montana it would have been a great game. Personally, I was cheering for SHSU to win against the Griz because I thought NDSU had a better chance to win against the Bearkats. I still think NDSU would have done well against the Griz but it would have been tougher matchup IMHO.

NDSU does well recruiting and developing good DL and OL players and that is the strength of the team. The defense for NDSU will be very good once again this year. The question marks on the team will be the OL and WR positions.

Griz would of only beaten the Bison 4 times out of 10 or so, imo. The Bison were on a mission, dismantling three great offenses in a row.

Would of been a good one though

BB11 and tc, good posts. Please post more often.

Thanks. I haven't made it over to this site very often but saw on Bisonville that someone posted about this thread. Will NDSU repeat? It will be a challenge but I think that will be answered in the early conference schedule with playing Youngstown at home against this year(remember that was NDSU's only loss last year) and UNI also very early on the schedule. If NDSU wins both those games then I see them having home field in the playoffs and a very good chance at repeating. Youngstown has caused NDSU fits since moving up with NDSU only winning once and that was on one of the last plays of the game. If NDSU doesn't repeat I think they have an even better chance in 2013. Last year's team was loaded with sophomores, watch out when they are seniors. That class was recruited with the philosophy of bringing NDSU back to national prominence.

I do look forward to when the Griz and Bison play again. 2014 has the game in Fargo and a I will be there(I live in the Minneapolis area). I would love to come see your stadium in 2015.

That's interesting, because this Griz team is built for 2013 as well. We'll have 9 or 10 returning defensive starters in 2013, plus every single skill player (except TE) and a boatload of our O-Line as well. Too bad we're not playing 2013!

We still could end up meeting. Should be a fun year.

yes.

UM has more distractions right now than a evangelical TV preacher at a Hooker Convention in Vegas.

After their second FCS NC NDSU will move into the CFL were they belong next year.
