The Griz play 8 or 9 guys because they can. They have a lot of weapons on the bench especially if Akoh suits up. I would take a Big Sky tourney run my Senior year over a pro career in Europe. I'm sure Jamar feels the same way. If he doesn't play it's because he isn't healthy and damn that would sure be unfortuanate for that young man. I'm hear in Boise right now can't wait for Sac St. tomorrow Akoh or no Akoh. Go Griz!

sorry, but a few days of fun versus a potentially years-long adventure living overseas and getting paid to do it? really? the big sky?

I wouldn't trade my college playing days for anything. Some of the best days of my life playing with friends for a university that I represented. I never played pro ball but know people who have. They all say college was better because it wasn't a job it was still fun. The Big Sky tournament is a big deal for these kids.

You know Akoh would play if he could, he would! He’s been a great teammate to the other players, and wonderful ambassador for the university! Hope he succeeds in the future, and Go Griz!
You bet!

If he can play he should play. If he can't play, then so be it. If TD thought he could play...he would play him...any coach would. You don't sit your best player in the tournament because your saving him for later. If a player says, "I am good to go but I won't play because I am concerned I might reinjure myself and risk a chance at a professional career" then he isn't a true player in the first place. Stars are stars because they love the game and they love the challenge. They want to play. Period.

Do we ask this question again? Bigger stage, possibility to make more money overseas with a good showing, one more week of rest... but my guess, and that is all it is, is that he is done for the year. Think if he could go, he would have already. Bummer such a strong player had his season end with an injury.

Also, I know the Griz have changed their style of play to fit not having him, but a big body with his athleticism, even at 90% would be great to have against any big team in the tournament. Just wishful thinking on my part, though. Will be rooting for a different result from last year against Michigan.

...secret weapon.... 8-) 8-)

Interesting, not at all surprising for egriz, how quickly everyone believes and has accepted him being done for the year. Less than a week ago I was taking on bullets from every direction for saying the same thing.
Zion has a real pro career ahead of him yet still chose the loyal route. Not easy to do at 18-22 years old.

I think there were a lot of people who had accepted it but were hopeful that he might make it back. What most here weren't buying is you saying he quit and turned his back on his teammates.

+1

Which I certainly respect their thoughts. When the season is over and the details of his injury situation become common knowledge to all I expect those people to show me similar respect in return.

Meniscus injury, his college playing days are over.

I doubt that he would have been on the bench during the tournament games had the team felt he had "quit and turned his back on his teammates."

Or when he asked to be back on the bench escalated to begging, letting him was better than the team distraction it was building...
