UCLA is bad, this year...the one who impressed the first half was Qvale....I think he can play with anyone. Cherry was missing most of the first half and Kareem was trying to hard but they got into the flow and a dispirited UCLA bunch left the smallest crowd in years shaking their heads and rumbling about "a new coach"....ugh....I have to say, watching Selvig play I don't know whether to laugh or cry...he is all arms and legs and each time he dribbled down the court I expected him to lose the ball...or fall, or whatever, but he doesn't....took some wild shots, as did Cherry but in a game like this, it doesn't matter. However, missing free throws is bad news since Qvale is being trippled and Cherry likes to drive and will be fouled.....a glaring weakness.
 
Just gonna throw this out there...could it be that many people may have stayed away because the game was against...Montana?

no..most tickets have been sold for season....yesterday was a huge day for LA...SoCal and Ucla is a huge rivalry..hell, people were stabbed at a tailgate! It was fatigue and rain...which, in LA, rain is a disaster...
 
I read a story last year about how UCLA and many other college basketball teams are having trouble getting fans in the seats at all their games. It isn't just when Montana comes to town. I think it is the economy, competition for entertainment dollars, more young people staying home staring at their computers, etc
 
Flipping through the channels trying to find the Griz game I came across USC hosting 20-something ranked Texas and there were about as many empty seats as UM vs Portland.

yeah, "bad" teams lose on a controversial call by 1 point at the #4 team in the country's place (Kansas) in their previous game all the time. They are not a bad team. They played poorly and the Griz caught them on their worst night, but to say that they are bad is just flat wrong. Give the Griz some credit. UCLA lost by 1 point at Kansas just 3 nights previous, but you proclaim them a "bad" team. Ok! Cherry's free-throw shooting has improved dramatically in just one year and I would expect it to improve as the season progresses too. If Cherry is shooting 10+ Free-throws/game I would consider that a good thing, not a glaring weakness.

Wrong...UCLA is not very good, which is to be expected since they are very young and inexperienced, playing a style that does not fit their usual style...sound familiar? right now, you are alone in your assessment of the Bruins. I saw a Griz team determined not to be embarrassed at first but soon realizing they could win at Pauley and did...easily....That a team overachieved at Kansas says nothing. UCLA is simply not good this year..sorry....the Griz are simply better....
