Wildcat

I posted this in another topic but will create it's own topic.

The wildcat the Griz did with Bergen was great in the first half...completely abandoned in the second half.
Should have done the wildcat with Britt as the QB...have him pass a few out of that. That would have confounded Weber.

I would have run the jet sweep out of the wildcat formation as well.

It didn't work.... most of the plays other than 2 were stopped. Pretty obvious what's going to happen with a wr/rb running the wildcat. Has to be a mobile qb that can pass.

do you really think it was given much of a chance. I do not believe the formation was given much of a chance at all. The offense we ran was absolute horseshit. Hard to do worse and Bergen is a great athlete.

That formation averaged way more yards per carry than the 1.1 average our run game did. And they abandoned it completely. Rosie is a genius.

It did work. And Bergen could pass, but probably not allowed to. More genius on the part of Rosy.

And he kept it every time. Never gave it to the other back or receiver in motion. Flowers running it made more sense as another on here posted before the game they should do based on his high school film.

Isn't running the "wildcat" with a mobile QB that can pass basically what we do now? It's called an RPO. We're just doing it without a mobile QB. A true wildcat is run with a RB or WR. It's typically a designed run.

Idk what ygame you guys watched. It got stuffed more than it was successful. But, that's due to doing and it too much and Bergen holding onto it every time. Not sure Bergen can read the defense that well. That's probably why it was abandoned.

I was hoping they would have tried just snapping the ball to JR and let him pick a hole and run. Most, if not all our Wildcat plays started with multiple fake handoffs prior to JR running which slowed the play.
Go Griz!

Huh? Every wildcat they ran was a direct snap to Bergen. every single one.

Read what I wrote, I’m suggesting the multiple fake handoffs after the snap to Bergen delayed the play. I wished that we would have tried allowing JR to just run to a hole w/o the delayed fakes.

Oh, I gotcha now. :thumb:

It’s a sad state of affairs when a one-handed back is counted upon to be productive when you could just attempt to run the offense with the kid who’s more like the starter. That was a throw shit against the wall strategy to see what might stick. & hope really isn’t a strategy. If you’re going to run it - run it. Brown shouldn’t still be on the field when you could add a blocker.

It’s because Hauck believes the defense and special teams will be the difference in the games. Defense is getting worn down - as in years past, and they’re playing a better overall caliber of team top to bottom than Bobby seems to think. God bless Flowers but he’s seen the last ball kicked to him he’s going to see this season. Too bad they can’t seem to find him with the ball on the offensive side. & if there’s been a worse overall year for the specials in terms of turnovers and miscues, I can’t remember it. Time to move in from 2009 - way past time in fact.
