This is exactly the difference. The fact that Mellot has yet to make it through an entire year without being injured tells you whether or not he has the body type for the offense they are running with him. There have been times when he has been injured multiple times during the year. How many games did McDowell miss last year due to injury?

I don't watch the cats games a whole lot, but there were so many times when I did watch a game or two and I would literally cringe when Tommy would take off running because the inevitable conclusion was him limping off the field at some point.
Hilarious! So, you are judging talent based on who got injured and who didn't? I couldn't stop laughing! You can't make this stuff up!

I'm not sure if you are smart enough that you are trying to straw man this discussion (doubtful) or if you are just so bad at reading comprehension that you don't even understand the argument being made. Where did I or anyone else say he isn't talented? Didn't happen. Maybe go back and read the thread again. Many people have said that he is a very talented and hardworking young man. I liked several of those posts because I AGREE. That's THE ENTIRE POINT and why alabamagrizzly said it is "borderline criminal what he goes through." You specifically asked what makes it criminal? The answer was that he obviously does not have the body type to be able to take the punishment of the position as he is being tasked with playing it, as evidenced by his many injuries. You were the one who originally compared him to McDowell. Therefore I asked how much playing time McDowell missed due to injury last year? The answer is clear. Two very different body types. You constantly complain about people not "wanting to talk football" yet every time someone tries to have a discussion with you and offers a reasoned opinion that is supported by facts, you veer into the realm of logical fallacies and insults. I would tell you to give it a rest but it's obviously your entire schtick and you've got nothing else.

Someone call child protective services because the beatdown Mom just gave turd was borderline criminal.

Talk about "nothing else"??? Your football knowledge is lower than your age. Am I smart enough? I guess I was smart enough to start two medical companies which I sold for seven figures. Is that smart enough for you?

I'll humor you with your magnificently astute football discussion. So, Mellott doesn't have "the body type" to be a running QB? Hilarious! He is built like a rock, and his best position would probably be as a running back, or a strong safety. You obviously haven't seen him in person. He has no body fat, and is ripped. You geniuses who try to equate unfortunate injury history with "body type" are hilarious! Even more hilarious is you attempting to use McDowell not missing time because of injury during ONE SEASON as proof that his "body type" was more suited to run the football. McDowell actually was injured in several games, but played hurt through the injuries. That fact means nothing. It means only that his injuries were not serious enough to keep him out of the games like Mellott's did.

Keep bloviating, sweetie. You might get something correct in the future. You might wanna put me on ignore.

I don't think pointing fingers as if there is some culpability attached is the right direction. I mean, how many of those QBs that the Griz have had, whether out of High school directly or transferring in, ended up with an injury that precluded their careers? Andrew Selle. Reese Phillips. Naming but a couple. Brady Gustafson was suffering under an injury for a while. Josh Swogger sustained a broken finger in the Iowa game that must've impacted his performance.
I mean, you can offer scholarships all you want but you can't force anyone to sign if they find an opportunity elsewhere; or perceive a better situation. One can, I suppose, dig for faults, etc., etc., etc. But then again, why not delve into the solution process; especially when fault lies vacant.
The discussion is about recruiting high school QBs who can be developed and spend 4-5 years contributing to the team, instead of 1-2 year rental QBs. And, all QBs have a propensity for injuries, since they control the football on every snap. It goes with the position, and has little relevance to the topic of this discussion

Plus all the really GOOD recent starters Adams (EWU), Gubrud (EWU), Thomson (Sac), Martinez (NAU), Barron (Weber), McCoy (Idaho) have left their programs for greener pastures, requiring them to scramble to find replacements. It's a conundrum for sure.
You gotta have them first before they can bolt. We never have them

Thank you for proving my point. You cannot make a cogent argument without throwing in insults that have zero to do with what I am saying and everything to do with who I am which just proves again what a misogynist you are. Thanks for the compliment in calling me young though even though you meant it as an insult. Idiot.

I guess you're not smart enough to realize that the criticism was against the MSU staff for how they continually used and abused him, and not against him personally. But again, not surprising.

Tommy is a great kid. He is a great player. The way the Cats have used him has led to a lot of injuries. That concussion vs EWU was one of the worst I have seen. I hope he stays healthy because he is a good kid. Way to throw the "sweetie" thing in because a female poster handed you your ass. Go make her a sandwich.

Ha Ha Ha, Aunt Rico tries to play comedian again. And just how have the Cats have "used" Tommy which led to injuries? He plays QB in an offense that is a run-first option offense. You know, the offense that skewered our vaunted 3-3-5 defense for 450 rushing yards a couple of years ago? The offense which Scott Frost ran as the QB for three years at Nebraska? Or that Mariota (who is much more fragile than Tommy) ran at Oregon. That offense?

Don't feel sorry for Tommy. He loves playing QB, and never whines about injuries.

I'll make you a sandwich, and be sure to leave out the meat, and fill it with greens and healthy things to fit your lifestyle

Awwww here comes the predictable Misogynist label. If I am that, then you are a man-hater.

Do you actually think that Tommy feels that he has been abused by the MSU coaches? If you believe that, I've got some prime beach property in Afghanistan you might be interested in. You obviously know nothing about Tommy Mellott;

You reap what you sow. If you can't handle the heat, put me on ignore. But you know that you won't.

To all of you whining about the victimization of Tommy Mellott by the MSU coaches, I might wanna remind you that you made the same accusations about how they abused Troy Andersen by playing him at QB. You dudes are hilarious. We should feel sorry for all of those Bobcat QBs who their coaches abused, when the real abuse was inflicted upon Bobby's 3-3-5 defense when we had to try and stop them in the Griz/Cat games.

How about when you lose a non conference game to Oregon St. 68-28 and your QB's rush the ball 27 times and your RB's 4? Or look at Cat-Griz game when the Cats can only muster 67 yards passing. Option FB is great but you can't win consistently in Division 1 FB if you can't throw the ball. I love Tommy and he is a great competitor but running a QB that much and adding the hits he takes throwing takes it's toll. It also took its toll on Troy Andersen who was built even more to take hits than Tommy. Frost played 30 years ago and had to leave Standford to see the field because he didn't fit in Stanfords system. Mariota also completed almost 70% of his passes and I doubt many of his runs were QB Power.

The last QB who took us to the NC was McDowell. Was he really "developed"? Sheeesh. He was only here one semester. It is our new world.
He didn't "take us" anywhere. Our defense and Junior Bergen took us to the NC game. He played like crap in the Furman, NDSU, and SDSU games.

Did you watch the game last year?
